Tadlow finally releasing new Dracula recording,25th of October,great news there.Now we are waiting for King of Kings.not far short of a year now and yes,James has had to put his health first,but it will be very welcome to have these at last.

Splendid news! I'm sure it'll be worth the wait. I don't even want to hear the clips - I want it to be a totally new Halloween experience.
Re-watched both classic Hammer films recently. They hold up remarkably well. (HORROR OF) DRACULA seems to be the one which is marginally more "famous" and held in high esteem by fans, but CURSE is actually for me marginally better in its performances, script and tight direction. So, film-wise, CURSE OF FRANK gets a high 10 from me, whereas DRAC gets a mere low 10.
But both scores get an 11, in fact DRAC in this case gets a 12 out of 10. Really looking forward to hearing what the Tadlow team have done with such iconic material. James Bernard's scores were always instantly recognisable and he certainly was an integral part of the team who created the classic Hammer "feel".
Hope you're feeling a bit better now, James. Best wishes to you and the rest of the Tadlow crew, and thank you!

That new Rhapsody for Lucy track sounds beeeeeautiful. Do I hear a discreet but sumptuous choral section in it?, around the 6-8 second mark and again later? Love it already, and what a great idea to create a new piece of music from the template of the original score, giving us even more of that great James Bernard inspired sound. What an incredible release.
Listened to these samples quite a few times now..

Not being as big a fan of the Hammer horror films (or so I think*), and having quite a lot of James Bernard already - I ordered this thing as soon as I got the email!!!
Perfect Halloween release.
*Which tends to be disproved by the books, CDs, and handful of DVDs I own, and the vast number of films I've seen, including these two 6 or 7 times each.

Wow. It's amazing the sounds that can be generated with the right combination of instruments that give it an extra something, either by design or otherwise. I can't remember off hand which scores I'm thinking of, though I suspect it's Bernard Herrmann with some of his 'special' orchestra combinations, but I have felt a certain electric if not electronic feel when I know there are no electronics being used. I know I've always found Jason and the Argonauts to have a sound not duplicated anywhere else.
But yes, what I'm hearing so far of that extra track is some lovely melody, and I'm pleased to see the generous running time for it. I'm looking forward to hearing this track as much as the rest!
Nice to hear the further track samples now too from Curse. Never thought about it, despite being quite familiar with the Main Title (probably due to the poor sound condition in the print I've seen the last few times) but it's quite clear to my ears that James Bernard is doing "The-Curse-of-Frankenstein" thing using the syllables for the main part of the theme in the same way he explained his "Da-cu-la" theme to the audience in the old BBC The Studio That Dripped Blood documentary. Am I being unfair to say that Bernard used very broad strokes for his film music? That fact is I love it.
Am I also right in assuming you thought of the Rhapsody For Lucy because these first two scores don't have the sweeter pieces found in later scores like Taste the Blood, and Scars of Dracula? Whatever the reason it sounds just great. Thanks!

The Cimbalom only features in the solo piece - the two scores just use standard perc.

That’s pretty much the case - and it’s become something of a tradition, to arrange a new solo for Lucie on the reconstruction albums
