This used to be someone's holiest of holy grails around here.
Can't remember who it was though.

Premiere Elmer Bernstein from the 70s.
How great is that.

Absolutely Fantastic! Kudos to the gents at Intrada. It certainly has been a holy grail of mine. Don't be put-off by the film's obscurity. This is Bernstein at his best.

Timely announcement. UK label Second Sight has undertaken a restoration of the film and will release the Blu Ray in December.

You don’t know who Elmer Bernstein is? Did you get here by accident? big grin

I heard a suite on YouTube. Good music, if a little downbeat. How long has it been since the last Bernstein?

Not 100% sure, but I think it might have been a TV movie.

Sure enough, Fish Man over at Youtube ripped a suite from the film:

I'll listen to it later today.

Amazed how many people are saying - not just here - that they've not heard of the film. I thought this was a holy grail for some. Roger posted in 2014 he was working hard to get it out but couldn't get a licence. Well done him for persisting.

Lionel Jeffries directed a classic British film in 1970 - The Railway Children - and this was his next project. It didn't have the same level of success that the Railway Children had, but it's very fondly remembered.

Produced by Barry Levinson - but not that Barry Levinson!

I too never heard of this film, but I'll buy any Elmer from 1970. The YouTube suite from the film is a delight, I'm greatly looking forward to this CD. Thanks Roger and Doug!

Gee whiz... have been away for a week up in the highlands of Scotland with no access to the usual interweb haunts - then return to normality and discover this. Well done, Intrada, and thank you in advance...

Okay, listened to the suite.

Can't fault the score for writing, but for me there's just too much low key material on the whole. I supposed the suite is missing score that had too much SX/SFX or that some score may have been dropped that could change my opinion.
