Amazing composers worked on this series, including John Williams (6 episodes or more?) and Jerry Goldsmith (2 episodes). I *gotta* believe there would be a market among Williams and Goldsmith fans for a box set of this series scores, with theirs (and maybe others by bigger-name composers) in complete form as well as some highlights of the other composers' work! (Hell, I want all the Roy Webb I can get, to be honest...)

I say bring on that "hefty beast." Four CDs booked together and released every few months might lead to us getting them all. (And lead to poverty, I'm sure.) I can't think of another TV show that had so many various and talented composers.

I recently checked out season one.from the library. I could barely get.through an episode.

I think I'm burned out On tv westerns- esp.60 minute ones.You would have to strap me to a.chair CLOCKWORK style to get me to sit thru 90 minutes.
MAYBE I'll revisit the episodes scored by John and Jerry someday

I would certainly purchase a Wagon Train box set, and the same goes for Rawhide, Gunsmoke, Have Gun Will Travel, Bonanza, Riverboat, The Big Valley, classic western TV shows all!

I don't think that's actually true. I think if we are talking about *obscure* works by either composer, Goldsmith has the more rabid hardcore fans who will buy anything with his name on it. I'm willing to bet that a Williams random TV title will not sell as well as a Goldsmith random TV title. I'm willing to even bet that a Williams 60s comedy score will not sell as well as a Goldsmith 60s comedy score. But I doubt either of us has any data to back up their theory.
