As a counterbalance to the "other thread."

Thanks to:

All the soundtrack specialty labels for going to such lengths to release the scores we love -

Lukas Kendall for starting this whole thing -

Insightful posts from Jeff Bond, Mike Matessino, Lukas Kendall, Bruce Kimmel, Yavar, SchiffyM (and others - long day, so I'm forgetting good people for sure) -

John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith and Akira Ifukube for sparking my interest in film music and starting me down that career path.

That's a start, anyway smile

Awww, thanks! I'm honored to be included in that list!

In addition to Lukas and the other label folks here like MV/Bryon/Peter/Roger/etc., I'll also shout out appreciation for Schiffy (miss you Schiffy!), edzoomom (come back!), manderley (PLEASE post more!), joan hue (thanks for staying), henry (love your positive energy), and many many other folks who make this still a worthwhile place to visit (far too many to list, really).

Yavar

Thanks to the majority of the member here who don't make things so bad.

Thanks to so many older members who knows all these weird little details and always have some obscure score up their sleeve to drop on you to go check out.

Oh yeah, and I want to thank Solium for laughing at my ST-TMP Enterprise John Barry / Henry Mancini mashup (some took great offense, lol).

Oh, and I like Thor too (even if his hard-line stance about expanded releases strikes me as an affectation) smile

Thank you to La-La Land for releasing the single greatest soundtrack collection ever...

The Star Trek TOS 15CD box set!

It'll never be topped!

Not unless a miracle happens and we get Twilight Zone.

True. However, a Voyage to the bottom of the Sea (even incomplete) would come awfully close for this fan. wink

I ADORE Thor, despite the fact that he once instructed me to f*ck off during one of his all-too-rare lapses in judgment and taste.

Amen to the above. Many’s a time when I think how lucky we all are to those mentioned (and others), who have been involved in releasing all these gems and / or contributing in some positive way to expand our listening pleasure. It's a very small world but so happy to be in it. Another major contributor is the great Jon Burlingame. He's been producing some real gems and I just can't stop listening to The Invaders! Who would of thunk it! But really great stuff all around from La La Land to Intrada to Quartet to Music Box to Kritzerland, etc. To the mastering geniuses, art designers....
Thanks again one and all !! You all keep a big smile on my face!

My first soundtrack purchase was the Star Wars 2LP album in 1977.

My most recent acquisition has been the Star Wars Episode IX CD in 2020.

Thanks for the ride, Mr. Williams.

When I'm sitting around mopin', sittin' around mopin', weeping about the lack of new Gil Mellé and Basil Kirchin releases - or even Jerry Goldsmith ones - I'll look around me at all the Gil Mellé, Basil Kirchin and Jerry Goldsmith (plus a million other composers) LPs and CDs I already have, and have perhaps not played for the past ten years, and so I'll play one, and it's been so long since I've heard it that it seems like new.

I also enjoy a fine wine and a stroll down by the river, in silence - with only the call of the wildebeest for glorious company.
