To my ear its missing or orchestrated differently on the OST. I always thought the last track was abridged.
Oh dear lord! My very favourite James Horner score and after Superman my favourite film score. Always wanted this music to get the Intrada treatment and here it is!

I just watched the last scene again and yes, it does seem at least to have a different mix in the film.
This is one of my all-time favorite scores but the OST is very generous, so I'm especially interested in possible alternates and film versions.
