I'm looking for some compilations dedicated to one film composer that use primarily the original film recordings. I know of a lot of sort of tribute albums to people like Horner with new recordings, but (I'm sure due to licensing among other factors) ones that use the original recordings seem rare.
If you are receptive towards 1960s & late-'50s British film music, these mono originals were sourced from Gerard Schurmann's archive of composer copies.
Thanks Zardoz! That actually definitely interests me though the only one of those films that I've seen is... you guessed it, Kongas! Oh and Quartermass which I love.

THX, that's actually just the kind of thing I'm looking for! I know many collectors probably would look down on such a compilation but... I probably should not admit this here, but aside from a vinyl Superman soundtrack I actually don't own *any* John Williams (for a variety of reasons, including that, while I like his work, I've simply never been a huge fan--) and that may be a good starting point.
Intrigued by the Bruce Broughton discs too--and how did I not know he wrote the theme for Tiny Toons??
