Those samples are great... curious how long is the entire album compared to shortish and unorderable Take her she's mine...

Thanks for sharing Yavar. Yes, this is one case where I think I will enjoy the score so much more having it separated from the film where most of the more lyrical parts were mixed much too low. I like the "Love Theme" and the "Italian Theme" and am happy that we will have more of that to enjoy. It's a hard score to listen to with the picture for me and again I think the cleaner CD Album experience will be most welcome.

From what I understood Doug said, I guess it will be up on the INTRADA site soon available for us all to order!

As I understand it they are planning to restock Take Her, which does still have over 31 minutes of score even though a handful of cues are lost to time.

On this one the score proper runs over 42 minutes and the entire album is well over an hour including the extras (which include alternates, source music, and the audition version of the song).

That "electronic sound" is like something for a scene featuring Donald Duck waddling around. It's almost comical to imagine dramatic scenes from the contemporaneous The Godfather or The Godfather Part II being adorned with that silly cartoon-like sound.
A pity, because the orchestral stuff sounds like Goldsmith in fine form.

I'm not sure if the vocalist is actually Carol. I think it might be the same lady who sang "When you've gone away" from his BABE TV Score.

Oh ... then did Carol write the lyrics?

Yes, she definitely wrote the lyrics. I believe the only Album she actually sang on was THE OMEN. Where she wrote the lyrics as well to "The Piper Dreams"

She also wrote lyrics to the Love Theme from LOGAN'S RUN. I think it was called "As we follow the Sun"

There ya go!

And, oh golly, am I still the recipient of "oh hi mark" jokes in the 2020s? wink

After hearing so many comments about the synth sounds being predominant in the score, I watched the opening of the film on YouTube and found the synth elements to be pretty subtle and not overly “out there”.
This was definitely a period when Jerry enjoyed experimenting with electronics but in this case I don’t feel the effect was detracting. I look forward to this exciting premiere release!

For me, ever since FSM's Logan's Run, I've been willing to give 70s synths another go when the sound quality improves so much, and not just the quality of the synths, which mattered so much with Logan, but the whole recording. When time corrodes music to mostly midrange, the synths get forefronted in a weird (and unintended) way. When the full range of sound is present, they seem to fold in better. That's how the new Don is Dead clips sound to me.

Thanks Yavar.
That was, indeed, a revelation.
When compared to what has been previously available to spotlight the score, those new tracks positively shimmer and shine in comparison.
And all those shout outs to other late 60s, early 70s JG scores sound amazing.
Looks like this one will be added to my next Intrada order.
Good job smile

I’m so glad to hear that Kev! Did even the synth sound improve a bit for you as it did for me, when heard in good sound quality? Or are you just getting this for all the cues sans synth?

Yavar
