I was certain that we had a thread on this already, but maybe not.
In any case, someone put out 11 minutes of the score on Youtube. I think it sounds wonderful - laidback, soft Americana. Reminds me of Kamen's OPEN RANGE. Hope the rest of the score is equally good. I love JNH's previous western scores, like WYATT EARP and THE POSTMAN, and this seems like an excellent addition to that particular 'canon':
Yes, much more sombre/atmospheric/subdued, in keeping with his post-Zimmer JNH sound. Much more like The Hunger Games scores than his earlier rootin-tootin Wyatt Earp/Postman style. But the days of western scores sounding like Silverado are a thing of the past, unless it's a comedy or parody.
Yes indeed. A very good trailer. And the film certainly playing to Hanks' strengths. I will also visit a cinema to see this film. Looking forward to the score too.
News Of The World was a British Sunday newspaper rag (not even worthy to wipe ones arse with) that thankfully got sued out of business (or I like to remember it that way...it might be true) AND the title of an earlier Queen album...one I haven't played in years actually. So I will go remedy that.
Anyone expecting Postman-type score from a GREENGRASS movie either slept during past 15 years or should have his head examined.
While I'm excited for a new JNH score, I'm bummed that John Powell didn't get (take?) his chance at a western.
After how much Greengrass fucked Powell's work (the score for Green Zone was re-writte almost 10 times and Henry Jackman in Captain Philips was re-scored), don't surprise of Powell get away from Greengrass.
