Yes, someone posted about this awhile back. What a totally wacky, maximalistic house!

Eeesh not a fan of the interior decorating. That kitchen is such a bizarre mix of modern and vintage. That pool/porch area is nice though.

An old friend is his neighbor. I heard Elfman gave wild Halloween parties (no surprise there).

“Tasteful taxidermy”

Okay, I think we’ll stop you right there...

Wow, guess you can make a better living being a top tier movie music composer than I thought. I know he did Oingo Boingo back in the day (was a big fan of them growing up in LA and saw them in concert in the late 80s) but probably not bringing in tons of money as they were never that big.

I haven't seen any current figures, but I suspect top A-listers like Williams, Zimmer, Elfman and Desplat could plausibly get $1 million per score. And when you think of how many scores Elfman has done in the 35 years since Pee-Wee's Big Adventure...

The royalties from The Simpsons, Batman and Edward Scissorhands themes probably paid for that house alone.

If you could make $15m right now, wouldn't you?

Elfman's also 67 (!) and after a certain point maybe living in a giant mansion is more trouble than it's worth.

I suspect I will never find out...(I did live in his neighbor's guest house for a few months, but the only time I ever actually met Elfman was at a backyard BBQ in 1990.)

That "old friend" knew how to throw a Halloween party as well. smile

Hope all is well. It's been a long time!

I was just thinking how many times Lukas had been there -- I forgot that that's where I first met you!

Hope you are well, too.

(I'm listening to a CD I've had forever: "Betty Page - Danger Girl (Burlesque Music)." I never realized that the end title music for Archer -- the animated show, not the Brian Keith show with Goldsmith scoring -- is a library piece called "The Killer," by Mel Young. One of the advantages of owning "too many" CDs).

I can barely afford his soundtracks but he can have a house like that. Sumthang wrong with the system.

Crazy! Anyone know why they're selling?

Yes. Elfman and his family went into covid19 quarantine in their smaller house in Santa Barbara a few months back. It was meant to be temporary, but they loved it so much, they decided to move there permanently (it's a relatively easy commute to LA, anyway). But they're not moving just yet. They'll wait untill their son Oliver graduates from high school. And they'll most likely keep a smaller house in LA. More info here:

Only the super rich inflicted by Covid could turn this ordeal into a feel good story.
