You know how Ltd Edition scores often come in runs of 3, 000 or 1, 000 or even 500? I'm just curious if anybody has any album in their collection which is from a lower run.

For me, I think the most limited number run album I own is called Richard Band's 'Lovecraft', which was a 2007 Composer Promo CD featuring a selection of his work from Lovecraft films, including his Masters of Horror episode - 'Dreams in the Witch House'. There were only 60 copies of those as far as I'm aware.

So how low can you go? What's the most 'limited' Ltd edition on your shelf.

I have a kickstarted backer reward 2-CD soundtrack from the video game Indivisible which was only available for select backers. As best I can tell, only about 250 were made. Not super-valuable, only about $50 or so, but still!

I have Jon Everist's Shadowrun Hong Kong CD - only 100 were made.

I also have a signed copy of Kevin Manthei's - Invader Zimphony mini MP3 CD - which I don't think he's said he's given that many out.

Canadian Composer Bob Buckley also sent me 26 digital tracks earlier this year from his work on they series ReBoot which are also a treasure to me.

I bought a CD on ebay about a year ago "The Fantastic Film Music of Albert Glasser, Vol 1". It was issued on Starlog Records SRS-1001 in the 70s as an LP. It never got a CD release but some time ago Varese were looking into the idea of doing it and pressed either 1 copy or a very small number of CDs complete with the same artwork as on the LP to evaluate the prospect. A release never happened and my copy came from the private collection of the Late Robert Townson or one of Varese's Engineers ?. I had the LP back in the 70s and always liked the suite from The Boy and the Pirates, the only piece on the LP "In STEREO", so bidding for the CD (sealed) was an easy decision to make. There was never a Vol 2.

Probably The Bernard Herrmann Concert Suites box set that Varese put out sometime around 1989. It was a "Masters Film Music Special Release." Four CDs of the original London Phase 4 concert re-recordings that Herrmann did in the mid-70s. It was my first box set (quaint, now, since subsequent box sets have been so huge and lavish) and among the first CDs I ever owned. I love it still, and it still sounds great.

Not limited releases as far as I know, but there's a few releases I have that have become as rare as hens teeth:

The War Lord (Jerome Moross) - Varese
Masada (Jerry Goldsmith- rerecord) - Varese
The Four Musketeers (Lalo Schifrin) - Label X

There's probably a few more, but if I lost those three, I don't know where I'd buy them again.

I managed to order the Music Box edition of Orca right before it was withdrawn, so I guess that's pretty limited!

Probably Danny Elfman's "Big Eyes" CD which was only available as a promo through winning a contest. Found it in the wild at a used media store a few years ago. One of my prized CDs!

How many copies of Slipstream did Perseverance end up pressing before they were told to stop?

That's my situation. I may have some an odd album that was less than 500.
I don't have contest prizes or anything like that.

+Slipstream, and both volumes of Lionheart.
The score album of Fried Green Tomatoes is prob not that rare, but OOP and pricey.

Same here. I also have the accidental issue of PRACTICAL MAGIC with the Michael Nyman tracks which I randomly bought new at a Best Buy before it got pulled.

I once bought a 4(!) cd set, from an official wellknown distributor: Hellraiser by Christopher Young, with Safety reel and safety mixes: original Score Mixes and Fragments, with 4 factory printed cd'rs, I gues this is a very rare set. No clue how many of these sets have been produced and sold like this.
Also I own Original Film music composed by Soren Hyldgaard, limited to 500 pieces wink

Mine is a little curious.

Danny Elfman and Michael Wandmacher's score for MODERN VAMPIRES (aka THE REVENANT) from 1998 never got a soundtrack release, not even a promo. But some very few CD-R copies were made by director (and big brother) Richard Elfman for select few individuals. Back in the early 2000s, I was sent one of them by Richard's then-girlfriend after we had struck up a conversation by e-mail. I don't know how many were made, but it can't have been more than a handful.

Of course, these days I'm sure you'll find the music on Youtube or wherever, or in the dark corners of the web. But I pride myself in owning the original, 13-minute CD-R. Incidentally, the same package contained a small poster of the film, signed by both Richard and Danny. This is now framed.

I have both the lp and cd of the original soundtrack of John Barry's "Body Heat" before they were pulled. I have the EP of Knopfler's "Comfort and Joy". I think my Hong Kong CD of "Ashes of Time" is rare, as is the Hong Kong CD of "The East is Red." I have the SAE release of Fielding's "The Outlaw Josey Wales". Promo of Debney's "The Jetsons: The Movie." The Varese box set of the Herrmann "Suites." Probably forgetting something!

I have a copy of Dario Marianelli's Pandaemonium score on cd-r which I picked up on a market stall in London for 50 pence.
I don't know if there was an official release? But a beautiful score anyway.
Regards MR

Probably this one at 300 copies: https://quartetrecords.com/product/kali-yug-la-dea-della-vendetta-il-mistero-del-tempio-indiano-2-cd/

I do also have the rare Sonic Images edition of Ron Jones's Starfleet Academy, which I think was largely scrapped after it was pressed, with no official release. No idea how many of them exist.
