This is a photo I saved from somewhere or other. Possibly, someone here may have posted it once upon a time. If I had to guess, it is from the early 1950s. Johnny Green is at the head of the table (he was department head). Conrad Salinger is to his immediate left. In the foreground, Hugo Friedhofer (left) and Andre Previn (right).

And as an adjunct to the photo above, this is a shot of the Freed Unit at MGM, circa 1945. Possibly, it was a social occasion. Roger Edens is at the piano. Kay Thompson is beside it. Arthur Freed is in the center of the photo wearing a bow tie.

The man with glasses in the chair (left of center) is none other than the great composer Jerome Kern....

The gentleman next to Andre Previn is not Hugo Friedhofer.....

I did not say it was. As I stated, in the FOREGROUND is Hugo Friedhofer on the left....and Andre Previn on the right. They are sitting across from one another.

Starting from the left, the third is the man who more than any other has Rozsa in his head (after Rozsa himself): he is Eugene Zador, the orchestrator of nearly all the Rozsa's scores. A true golden man.

I believe the fellow on the right, with the carnation in his lapel, sitting next to Andre Previn, is Jeff Alexander.

Is it Rozsa end of table, at left (looking at photo) of Johnny Green (his right)?

Here are three giants from that music department -- Conrad Salinger, Andre Previn and Johnny Green:

Bronislau Kaper sits most likely on the right (5th, counting from Green's end down).

Maybe, even Adolph Deutsch (7th, right, near Kaper).

I think you are correct about Kaper. The glasses frame looks like what I have seen in a portrait of him

It's likely a photo of a rehearsal session for the Jerome Kern biopic TILL THE CLOUDS ROLL BY. Kern may have been receiving a presentation of the songs that were planned to be included in the film.

And could be Daniele Amfitheatrof the fourth to the right? Also Scott Bradley could be near Johnny Green in front of Kaper. You know, they worked in those Lassie movies. Great set, by the way form FSM.

Speaking of MGM, can anyone identify any of the musicians in the pictures in this directory, particularly the soloists?
