Is this the darker and grittier one where Axel is depressed and drinking and he says "I'm running out of friends to avenge because they're all dying", then his daughter finds his old badge and sweatpants and decides to follow in her father's footsteps and become an undercover cop herself, and then their old friend Serge who is old and retired and selling vintage 80s art sculptures on eBay uncovers an online smuggling ring, and Steven Berkoff returns as Kristian Maitland, Victor's twin brother who was appalled by his brother's criminal deeds and has been living a spiritual live to set things right and tells Axel "sometimes you have to let the past die" which motivates Axel to live for his daughter, and there's a throwback easter egg in the post-credits sequence where Axel's daughter tells Axel that she's vegan because she learned that by the age of 40, the average American has 5 pounds of undigested red meat in their gut, so instead they all eat bananas in a five-shot camera angle before the film is done?
Same producer so they may be approaching it the same way as TOP GUN: MAVERICK, which was a collab between Lorne Balfe, Harold Faltermeyer, and Hans Zimmer. Will Zimmer be joining them for this one too? Who knows. Whatever you think of the new TOP GUN movie, it proved to be a huge hit so everybody would be on board with the same film score team.
I think at this point you can write "Lorne Balfe scoring [any upcoming film you can think of]" and the odds will be good that it's an accurate announcement.
I'm not a huge fan of Balfe ( although I enjoy a number of his scores ) , and I'm not one of those who always has the knee-jerk "Gawdddd nnoooooo" reaction to just seeing his name :,
But anyone thinking Faltermeyer would be hired to score a major feature on his own these days has a couple of screws loose.

Yeah, except te "Top Gun" sequel. But I guess that wasn't major. And he was the only composer announced for it back before it was Balfed and Zimmered.
But may people would have screws lose to think we'd be getting new seasons or continuations of TV shows cancelled/ended well over a decade ago, from "Quantum Leap", to "Tiny Toons", to "Animaniacs", to "Murphy Brown", to "Roseanne", to "Full House", to even -- lord save us -- "Punky Brewster".
Lorne Balfe is a good composer he knows how to put the emotion and the action where it should be.... I loved the music he did for Bad Boys 3 (Bad Boys For Life), he took some of the themes from the first Bad Boys and put his own touch with a new melancholic theme. Maybe he could do something good, but i doubt it for Beverly Hills Cop because Harold Faltermeyer is an amazing composer and keyboardist! The theme of Beverly Hills Cop should be composed by Harold Faltermeyer alone. It's a unique electronic theme that should be left to him. I'm sure that with his creativity he will make new themes if he is chosen for Beverly Hills Cop 4. Look at John Carpenter who created a new theme for the last Halloween and it's great! This is a personal opinion and I love Harold Faltermeyer!
The proof is in the pudding. Balfe is hit and miss, but he can do some good stuff if inspired. While I would have wanted Faltermeyer to do it solo, let's see what comes of this first, shall we?

Now I'll have to listen to the BB3 score again. I really enjoy listening to his Genius: Picasso score. Especially the Stroke of Genius track.

That's actually... slightly astounding. Who is this Balfe and what has he done with the real Balfe???
