I love Bernstein's other score for a film called Rat Race, so how bad could this one be?

Great. I have high hopes for the score. There have been scores he's done that I didn't care for, but never once have I heard a bad score from him.

I hope the remainder of his rejected scores also see the light of day.

Very cool! I totally forgot about this rejected score. How exciting...

An unused score by a favorite composer - probably my absolute favorite type of release!

I haven't seen this film. The cover imagery suggest a silly slapstick film with silly slapstick music.
But I'll reserve judgment till the clips are available.
Bernstein's previous (1960) Rat Race score is excellent.

It's basically a 'modern' (i.e., unfunny) version of 'It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World'. I remember only one or two decent gags. You can skip the movie.

I noticed that the cover mentioned "Inspired By The Motion Picture". Does that mean that most of the score wasn't used in the film?

None of it was.

It was rejected, and John Powell scored the film instead.

If memory serves, someone from FSM attended Bernstein's scoring sessions for this film prior to the score's rejection, but I can't recall who. Regardless -- looking forward to hearing this! Unreleased and unheard Bernstein... what's not to like?

Barbie sequence is near genius, though.

The finished score is by John Powell. It's very good actually (and I'd gladly buy an expansion were one to come out).

Should be interesting to hear Bernstein's take.

I wonder if this means that Bernstein's rejected I Love Trouble score has a chance of being released now...

or A RIVER RUNS THROUGH IT

No, it doesn't. Your calculus is off.

I LOVE TROUBLE is Disney and licensing from them isn't forseeable even though Varese was lucky enough to do that deal that allowed that box set with GANGS, NATTY GANN and SCARLET LETTER.

I wouldn't rush to think Bernstein's score for A RIVER RUNS THROUGH IT (Sony) is coming soon either.

(Welcome to another edition of "That's great! Now that you've released that unused score, I want this one!")

James

Oh my gosh I LOVE that this release is called "Inspired By". I know this is a rejected score and Bernstein rocks so I'm curious to hear it.

That aside, nothing could be "inspired" by this horrible film other than maybe a trip to the bathroom.

That's pretty much the standard for rejected score releases. Probably silly legal stuff.

I actually enjoyed this film back in the day. It’s turn your brain off slap stick comedy. Don’t take it seriously and you’ll have a few laughs. Excited to pick this up.

I always thought this movie felt a little like Cannonball Run. Am I off the mark on that?

I was hoping the John Powell expansion but I must listen the samples on this one too.
