there's a typo in the liner notes calling TOURIST ATTRACTION "Tourist Trap" also...but who's counting? Charles or Bruce, Can you check your copy of THE OUTER LIMITS COMPANION. There is an episode which is known by another title and it's not THE GALAXY BEING. I believe it may have been TOURIST ATTRACTION, FUN AND GAMES, or SECOND CHANCE.

How's that for a bargain. Bargain, my eye. The Studio has screwed you with that "Outer Limits" swindle. The prints are not restored, no audio options, no extras (trailers, promos, audio commentaries, interviews) and you have supported the lousy politics of splitted sets. David J. Schow has spotted all the flaws and how MGM spits on the face of the customers with these DVD sets: "Video*WATCHDog", n° 89 and n° 102, November 2002 and December 2003, articles by David J. Schow George Macready as Governor K. Hillmond in "The Invisibles":

Well, the only other choice was to watch my old VHS copies which I still have, and they do not come with any extras and are not restored. Personally, I think all dvd releases -- be it film or television -- should be remastered with extras. I am willing to pay the price and do support them.

Personally, I think all dvd releases -- be it film or television -- should be remastered with extras. I am willing to pay the price and do support them. I used to buy the complete season 1 in one set back in 2002: it was double sided, with CC, and they made a cheap restoration with a software that David J. Schow described as a "Photoshop-like" rendition, in short they boosted the contrast and created noise in the dark scale of the picture. The correct restoration is executed from the 35 negative prints and not from the transfers whose masters were old prints, overlit by ABC network back then because they were scared that the audience could not see the show due to the fact that 1960's TV sets were technically poor with a limited ability to recapture the shades of grey. David J. Schow is despised by MGM and was never called to participate in the elaboration of the DVD sets.

Anyone with minimal film knowledge knows that a print from the original source negative in 35mm is far superior than a transfer, other wise known as a "dupe." All David pointed out the faults of the releases in his column and other articles. Did he tell you he is despised by MGM? I can give you his contact info and you can write to him yourself. There was a big difference in watching television back then because most of us started out with black and white televisions.

I know the man. He was never contacted by MGM which implied their scorn. He even gave me the list of flaws from the DVD booklet (2002 DVD edition). Please read the reference above to get the technical aspects of the shallow restoration done by computer.
