You know, I'm going to retract my hasty statement. I really don't want to contribute to derailing this thread from the attention this wonderful new release deserves.
What a nice surprise! Very strangely, I was just thinking about this score the very morning, for the first time in years! The only possible explanation is that I'm psychic, and likely extremely powerful in ways I'm about to discover. So you'd all better be nice to me!

great release for all the people who didnt catch the japanese import, a perfect album mixing songs and score, from that THORY good'old days of LP-program era.
listening to the new bits, I feel no need for double-dipping.
I am sure Thor has no emotional releation to the movie or Grusin, so no purchase. But he will be happy to know the LP program is there and congratulations for the fans and blah blah.
... and great news for those who did track down the Japanese CD.
you will replace it? I will keep it, cause I double-dip for OUTLAND and it's too much money already. And the new bits are just alternates or remixing or extracts of the same jazzy cues from the LP, for what I hear. Nothing too special.
Now I love this film, and I really like the score too...but what really makes me excited is that this means FSM's relationship with Sony is still alive and kicking...I think it's the first release involving Sony/Columbia since Paramount opened up. Which means Star Treks I and V are probably in the offing from FSM, and we might get all the classic Trek scores under one label's banner at last. In fact based on comments he's made, I think Michael Mattessino is already working on Star Trek IV complete (though admittedly it might involve another label since the original album for it and Eidelman's STVI belong to UMG -- FSM hasn't dealt with them before but then again they hadn't dealt with EMI either and here I am sitting with my complete Star Trek III in my hands!)
1982 was such a stellar year for movie music, and this is one of the jewels in that year's insanely-bejeweled crown.
Once again: Thanks, FSM!
Now playing: 'Poltergeist," which debuted in theatres 28 years ago today (surprise--1982) and scared the tar out of me. "This house...is clean." (Oh no it ain't!!)

He, he...wanna be my press agent, spielboy? That is in fact very close to what I was going to say, except that I think the film is fun. I have fond memories of it from my youth; I think it may be one of the first Dustin Hoffman flicks I saw.
I was so stoked about Outland that I ordered it and then noticed Tootsie. Now I have two separate orders. It's gonna be a great summer!
You should have ordered both the second time and canceled the first order. I hardly ever order one CD at a time. More money spent on shipping means less money for CDs. Some people must like overpaying. And it's not as if the extra money could be considered a "gift" to SAE to support their fine efforts... that money's going to the USPS. I don't get it. If you've got too much money that you've absolutely GOT to waste some of it... I volunteer to take some of that superfluous cash off your hands.
This the type of left field item that gets me stoked more than the "expected classics". Great surprise for an item high in the ranks of the comedic film score thread.
