Ah, confirmation of the Ron Jones TNG box set AT LAST ... be still my heart! Lukas, I believe this was a dream project for you -- and it'll be a dream to buy! OUTSTANDING!! big grin

From your wording, I assume the previously-released GNP material (such as most of TBOBW) will not be included on this set ... that's a darned shame, as I was hoping just to be able to chuck those discs. But hey -- that material is out there! Diving into this set will still be the musical equivalent of diving into Scrooge McDuck's money bin! (Speaking of which, I suppose you can expect the "When is FSM doing DUCK TALES?" e-mails to ramp up, eh? razz )

what wowenderful news! Im definetly buying this. I can remember the early FSM days when I did capsule reviews of first 2 seasons. I can understand why this project is so dear to Lukas.

Many favourites there! I just hope that all of the music from the famous Tasha Yar episode: the Skin of Evil is there! God knows how much Im looking forward to this.. and..

My turn:

Lukas, God Bless you!

So when is FSM doing Ron Jones' music for DuckTales?

big grin

Joking aside - excellent, excellent news to hear. I'll be picking up the Fielding score for sure (It's called "Hunters are for Killers", by the way), but I'm hesitant about the others for now due to lack of funds. Maybe my situation will change once the time comes for the Star Trek boxset to come out.

If the TV box includes Fred Karlin's Lucan (and even if it doesn't), count on a purchase by me!

Lucas, that Jerry Fielding score for the 1970 television film: could it be "Hunters Are For Killing"?

The Fielding and the TV Box are of immediate interest to me.

Anyone know which of the classic western TV shows might be MGM-related?
There was a CBS TV Westerns CD released by The Film Music Society a few years ago that I enjoy very much, despite rather weak sound. Had music by Friedhofer, Herrmann, Moross and Waxman, including episodes of Rawhide and Gunsmoke. I'd love to see more such releases.

Cheyenne, Cisco Kid, Bronco, Have Gun Will Travel, Wagon Train, more Gunsmoke and Rawhide... any possibilities?

I don't think any of the great TV Western shows were made by MGM (unless you consider Hondo and A Man Called Shenandoah as such).

I've read this half a dozen times now - and it is possible to interpret that "The Best Of Both Worlds" is not included in its entirety - presumably because the licence still being held by GNP/Crescendo.

This would be incredibly disappointing for 2 reasons:

1. It's the piece de resistance of Jones' TNG output. The centrepiece of his work. Any set would be dramatically incomplete without it.

2. GNP's original CD is flawed with several digital pops. I was incredibly excited about getting a newly minted disc!

Please say it isn't so!!

Reading the confirmation of the TNG boxset is a great way to start off the day! Thank you FSM. I have to admit, that aside from the existing releases, I never could have dreamed that this amount of CD's would ever be devoted to one of my favorite childhood series! This is a definite buy for me.

Sounds like there's a LOT of good stuff coming out! Splendid job done, Lukas and gang!

By the way, filmusicnow is right in his Fielding speculation - The TV Movie from 1969/70 is HUNTERS ARE FOR KILLING. It was on TV in the late-70s, and I'd just seen THE BIG SLEEP plus the TV Matt Helm and, as the main theme for HUNTERS ARE FOR KILLING kicked in I thought that Jerry Fielding really did only write one tune in his life.

All this is fantastic news, we have a lot of brilliant music to look forward to this summer and I hope to buy most of these! Thanks Lukas and FSM gang, great work!

Wow! Awesome to see these upcoming releases (if I had mucho money)! Glad to hear more Fielding and Silvestri on the way, plus a TV Omnibus set and Star Trek: The Box! Doubt it'll sell as fast as Star Trek: The Deluxe Edition, but you never know... all those Trekkies and all this unreleased music. I'm glad 'Search for Spock' wasn't FSM's last Star Trek release of the year.

About the "TV Omnibus" - I'm not one for speculating, but I just trawled all the way through imdb's list of MGM TV credits, and found lots of very obscure Lalo Schifrin, Dave Grusin, Billy Goldenberg and George Duning stuff... I'm not going to bore you all with MY list! Have a look for yourselves...
