Now that the sheet music has been unearthed for so many unusual film scores and songs, we have decided to bring in a professional pianist and a few vocalists to plow through the pile and play through a bunch of them.

AND WE WANT YOU TO PICK THE PLAYLIST!

Over the next few weeks look over the sheet music posted by Sheetmusicman and post to this thread which titles you would like performed. Want to hear the vocal version of MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE? Let us know. Want to hear the piano solo of RUNAWAY? Now's your chance.

We will be recording and filming as many pieces as we can and then post them on YouTube in the next month or so.

Here is a link to a checklist to find what is currently available to choose from listed by composer.

http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=96853&forumID=1&archive=0

This should be fun. Hope you enjoy.

My 1st wish for a re-recording is this ...

FACES IN THE DARK
Note: British Edition

Hope there's more material out there by Mikis Theodorakis!

I'll participate!

My wish list:

Horner: Theme from Bopha! (This is a weird and not very accessible score, but it has a lovely theme that's kinda obscured by off-putting vocals. A solo piano version without those vocals would be very nice, I think!)

Korngold: Tomorrow (When You Are Gone) (It'd be interesting to hear a film song adapted from a Korngold theme, considering he wrote his own vocal music all the time in the concert hall.)

Newman: Catana from Captain from Castile (Perhaps my favorite Golden Age score, so out of curiousity I'd like to hear the vocal version.)

Goldsmith: The Dark Song from The Detective (I like this score and am intrigued by a song adaptation.)

Goldsmith: Theme from The Other (Would love to hear this fantastic theme in a piano version)

Yavar

Your wish is our command.

We will be sure to include during our recording session the following:

FACES IN THE DARK (Theme)- Theodorakis
BOPHA! (Theme)- Horner
THE CONSTANT NYMPH (Tomorrow When You Are Gone)- Korngold
CAPTAIN FROM CASTILE (Catana)- Newman
THE DETECTIVE (Dark Song)- Goldsmith
THE OTHER (Theme)- Goldsmith

Already shaping up to be one interesting playlist.

Thank you for your suggestions. Keep 'em coming.

I would be surely interested in seeing and hearing a new recording of Vladimir Cosma's ALEXANDER (especially with the English lyrics), one of the first cinema themes I fell in love with.

We will be sure to do a piano/vocal version of ALEXANDER. Not often that Cosma and Rosenman get played back-to-back.

I would be interested in hearing Lincoln if you get a chance, since it says the piano reduction was written by John Williams.

I would love to hear recorded:

Dave Grusin's "Who comes this night?" - ABSENCE OF MALICE

Would love to have a CD release of the whole score. It's great.

Thanks,

Zoob

Here's a nice little selection of music from the film:

TO ZOOBA- Do you think if you ask them they will let you do some of the vocals. I miss your performances.

Thanks for that nice thought Dan. I think you may very well be my only fan. I've put Zooba's singing career on chill for a while, but who knows, I could be back sooner than you think. Did you catch my last attempt with "STRAP OF LOVE" (Music for a Nut Sack) Love Theme from THE SALAMANDER? I think it may have turned off many, but I sure had fun working on that one. Ha ha.

Check for it on youtube.

Thanks again Dan for your always kind words and thoughts.

Thanks for the kind offer. How long do we have for suggestions? smile

Meanwhile, a fellow fan suggested this:
http://www.halleonard.com/product/viewproduct.do?itemid=4490119&lid=0&keywords=seven%20for%20luck&subsiteid=1&
John Williams's song cycle Seven for Luck.

Thanks for all the new suggestions.

We would love to record EXPLORERS (Class Reunion) by Jerry Goldsmith, THE OUTRAGE by Alex North, ABSENCE OF MALICE (Who Comes This Night) by DAVE GRUSIN, INTERLUDE and JOE VS. THE VOLCANO by GEORGES DELERUE.

The John Williams song cycle, SEVEN FOR LUCK sounds intriguing. Will investigate how difficult it would be to perform within our session.

Everyone has a few more weeks to make more suggestions. This is shaping up to be quite an interesting and diverse playlist.
