I'm hoping against hope that something from Maury Laws comes out someday. Mainly one of the Tolkien scores, though there are hidden gems among the holiday titles that would be great for release as well. Frankly, it's some of the best as-of-now unreleased TV music out there. And where's the love for his feature film scores ("The Last Dinosaur", "Marco", "Daydreamer", etc.)? The man passed away just last year and there still hasn't been a peep about any of those. Shame.

Has anyone ever heard the Sinful Davey soundtrack? I remember an interview with John Barry where he talked about Sinful Davey. At director John Huston's suggestion he composed a modern sounding score for this period film, & United Artists didn't like it at all. Barry very reasonably offered to return his fee if they gave him the music, but United Artists weren't interested, they were happy to pay him the money & lock the music away.

You have my vote, sir. Nobody wants to listen to good music anymore. Don't know why. Maybe it's because there's nothing equivalent to American's Top 40 anymore.

There should be linear notes written about Maury Laws. Would love to see the Daydreamer, The Hobbit, Daydreamer, and odds and ends come out.

Babe: Pig In The City!

The majority of Nigel Westlake's score was left on the cutting room floor after the studio forced some heavy cuts weeks before the release date. What's left in the film (and the few tracks that Westlake released on his Shimmering Lights album) is just beautiful; but the score as a whole has been left unreleased and unheard. Would love to see this score get its long overdue release.

There was a “Story of” lp of PERRI, released at the time, which has soundtrack excerpts. I still have a copy of the Spanish-language version, no less, which I found in, of all places, Mexico City, back in the late 70’s.

Lovely score.

I have a question: what is so great about Batman and Robin?

I saw the movie in a theatre back in 1997, free of charge, as my brother had won tickets from a local radio station. Apart from feeling embarrassed that someone I knew might see me there, I was struck by how moronic, low T, unfunny and half-baked the whole disaster was. On top of that, there was the weird sexualization of both Batman and the Twink.

The score sounded, more or less, like a tired rethread of Batman Forever. Did I miss something.

And somewhat off topic, until 1997 I thought that it was impossible to make a boring Arnold flick. Joel proved me wrong.

1) The Beast Must Die - Douglas Gamley.

2) The original soundtrack to Psycho - No re-recording matches the originals ferocity. I’m sure with today’s tech. even the isolated music stems could be made to sound more than passable (look at Star Trek The Animated Series for example).

3) Mad Max 2 - See above.

4) The Haunting - Humphrey Searle.

5) What the hell, the now semi-mythical Conan the Destroyer from Intrada wink

and a cheeky no.6, The complete score to Battle Beyond the Stars from the mastertapes rather than an LP transfer...

Same question. Anyone?
