1) I can't find the music that plays after the scene at the motel when Tony kills Hector and then is seen standing at the phone booth with the Miami sunset behind him. What plays is a slow dark brooding version of Tony's Theme that I can't seem to find on this release.

Tracked in the film with "Just Paranoid." The cue, "I Got The Yeyo" was intended for that part.

2) Back To The House - the version of Gina's Theme that plays when Ernie and Nick carry Gina into Tony's mansion after he kills Manny sounds like the mix from the 2006 Platinum Edition DVD with extra notes and not the original '83 theatrical mix. Am I wrong or was it always mixed this way and just changed for the theatrical release?

I have no idea. The only tapes we had were mixes made in 1983 and nothing from the later remixes.

Just out of curiosity, how did the tapes were provided i mean where were they and did they had aged badly or aged a bit but restoring them wasn't that much of an extensive work ?

Universal had them and they were in excellent shape.

I looked into this further. We only had the one take of it. It seems for the film in 1983 they may have decided to leave off one of the three tracks while dubbing. Our album presents the cue, and score, as intended.

It arrived today! And it sounds fucking beautiful. I immediately jumped to the End Credits track because I really love what Moroder did with it in the film. The part when Gina's theme kicks in is out of this world! The sound is crisp, dynamic, and packs a powerful punch. This is going to be a release I revisit very often.

If you're someone who is somehow on the fence about this release. Please buy it. You will be very happy you did.

To everyone who worked on this release. Seriously, thank you. This was one of my last holy grail scores left. I am smiling from ear to ear listening to this right now.

What's everyone's favorite track or tracks so far? End Credits track for me. It's hard to choose though. Really love all the variations of Gina's theme throughout the score.

The extended version of Rush, Rush is really cool.

If according to the movie (I checked) this music cue should be: "I got the yeyo". Indeed, in the film, Tony says this phrase and exactly the cue you are talking about sounds.
(At least that's how it is in the movie.)

Fascinating! I popped my 4K disc in last night and rewatched the scene where this music plays. The 7.1 remix track which is the same as the 2006 Platinum Edition DVD does in fact feature the cue as presented on the La La Land disc with the extra piano notes. The original 2.0 stereo does not (same as theatrical mix). That makes this release even more historic because we got the original version of the cue as intended by Moroder and which was only previously available on the remixed score track from the Platinum DVD and 4K releases. Like I said, fascinating! And thanks again for your response Neil!

Yup! I got it now. It’s just mixed so low in the film that it was hard to hear but that’s indeed the music. Thanks again!

Absolutely 100% all the variations of Gina’s Theme are what I have on repeat. I even added a new one to that list I made the other day. Hard to hear in the film with all the noise and dialogue and low volume mix but right after Tony slaps Gina in the club bathroom a few notes of her theme plays, which I never got to hear clearly before.

Whatever you guys have in store for Black Friday won’t compare to Scarface. My #1 holy grail and it’s finally mine! smile

It's a film I've never seen or a soundtrack I've never owned, but judging from the "samples" especially 'Bolivia' it's definitely a future purchase.....sounds incredible !

The only Moroder score I have is 'Midnight Express'.

What do you think of the End Credits version of Gina’s theme?

I never realized her theme plays after he slaps her either. This is a score that needs to be heard outside the film to truly hear everything.

Neil, I have a question, I still have to crack open the liner notes so feel free to just have me read it there if it's answered. But how long ago did you guys get the go a head for this release? How long was it in the pipeline? I'm just asking out of curiosity. I love every second of this. It made my month and I went skydiving this month too so that should tell you something.

The End Credits suite seems to be comprised of Tony’s Theme and Gina’s and Elvira’s Theme from the original soundtrack album, tho as mentioned before on this forum, the mixing is slightly different. To answer your question, love the end credits version of Gina’s Theme in particular the transition between themes and then the notes hit hard. This release can do no wrong. La La Land just ran a clinic on how to do movie scores and proved once again why they’re the best in the business.

I ordered my cd, it is on its way to Belgium.
But after seeing the list of titles, I don't see the movie version of push it to the limit...
There is a version of She's on fire with a guitar solo that doesn't seem to be in the list either.
The version of chase is well the original of the film according to the list of listening...
It's a pity for the alternative version that we heard in the making of the 2003 dvd

there are several alternative versions where the tracks are mixed differently in the making of the 2003 dvd ...
I guess they had to make a choice about the tracks???

So I have to admit an error on my part. The Scarface soundtrack I owned Pre-LLL release was a download from itunes. It’s the 2003 release. Gina’s theme on that one sounds way different than the End Credits Suite. The 1983 album version of Gina’s theme and the End Credits suite do not sound nearly as different. So again, my apologies folks. I was totally ignorant to the fact I had the 2003 remixed album.

Listening to the unused Trailer Music for the first time. Pretty dang epic! I would love to see a custom trailer for the movie made using this piece of music!

I wasn't involved with any of the deals but MV said they signed a deal for it in 2018. I didn't get the tapes until February 2020, the same day I got the Karate Kid sequels. When the pandemic hit I feared Scarface might be the last thing I would ever work on. Who knew? It was mostly ready and approved in September/October 2021, and ready for release last year, but a song held up the approval process.
