Why hasn't anyone in all these responses mentioned Barry's "Mary, Queen of scots"? Other than a truncated re-recording accompanying his "Lion in Winter" by Silva, I'm unaware of any versions of this minor masterpiece -- original or otherwise -- in existence. Am I wrong? The soundtrack LP was released on CD by Intrada in 2008, it's a short album, but in great sound, I'm very happy I have it, as once it sold out (3000 copies, it didn't take that long) it was never rereleased. The US DVD had an isolated score track, as does the forthcoming UK Blu-ray release next month, but I understand that the music is in mono. If I had to choose just one "holy grail" it would be Max Steiner's Helen Of Troy (1956), but it would need a big expensive new recording, along the lines of The Alamo & Fall Of The Roman Empire, & I just can't see that happening. RE: "Mary, Queen of Scots:" Yes, the original LP score was available once, but that surely wasn't a complete recording of the entire score, was it? With all the new releases/recordings of scores that merely add a few minutes of score to what's already available, I find it surprising, to say the least, that Barry fans haven't sought more of this particular gem.

Blade Runner Heat Brazil Terminator 2 About Schmidt K-PAX Demolition Man GoldenEye If the estate of Vangelis is willing to work with specialty labels, then we could add Missing and The Bounty to the list K-PAX does not get the credit it deserves as a good movie or as a good score. Really happy to see it mentioned. Also, really happy to see someone else with GoldenEye as one of their Grails! What are the chances you think we see it some day?

K-PAX does not get the credit it deserves as a good movie or as a good score. Really happy to see it mentioned. It's such a catchy, melodic score. My fear is that it might never get expanded because Spacey is associated with it, and no one would want to get artwork approval from him. Also, really happy to see someone else with GoldenEye as one of their Grails! What are the chances you think we see it some day? As long as Amazon is willing to play ball, but only the labels can tell if that's what's really holding up such a release. I'm also surprised that none of Eric Serra's scores have been officially expanded; the guy seems pretty content with reissuing his original albums.

CHISUM - Dominic Frontiere and so many of the Hammer film scores The Gorgon - James Bernard Dracula Has Risen From the Grave - James Bernard The Phantom of the Opera - Edwin Astley and of course Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein - Frank Skinner Except for Chisum(I understand that the tapes for Chisum do exist), the otheres would have to be rerecorded. CHISUM tapes do exist and strange it remains unreleased on CD.

Some of my personal Holy Grails, maybe not the best scores in the history of soundtracks, but ones that I would really like to have. 1) The Story of a Woman (John Williams) 2.) Horror at 37,000 Feet (Morton Stevens) 3.) S.O.B (Henry Mancini) 4.) Tom Horn (Ernest Gold) 5.) Resurrection (Maurice Jarre) 6.) They Might Be Giants (John Barry / Ken Thorne) 7.) The Night Stalker (Gil Melle) 8.) Start The Revolution without Me (John Addison) 9.) The Man with Two Brains (Joel Goldsmith) 10.) Zeppelin (Roy Budd) Ford A. Thaxton Zeppelin would be wonderful and has some excellent themes and dramatic ques as per usual by the Great Man. CHARLY VARRICK is a long overdue CD release and perhaps the composers best score.
