Was the shower room massacre cue just "Opening" tracked in or is it part of "Seal Attack"?

It was a different performance than the opening or at the very least a different mix (I believe it's the version that was used in the end credits) so I'd guess it's part of Seal Attack but I won't have the release until next week to confirm it.

This is definitely an original track/composition, part of SEAL Attack.
While the theme build up has a similar arrangement on both versions, it's mixed differently (Shower is more strings heavy) and it's definitely another take from the orchestra (the cue evolves in a slightly different way during the climactic part - higher notes).

And yes, it was also part of the film's end credits medley.

Anyone knows which cues the end credits is? I mean, except for the obvious one on the new release.

Roughly something like this. Happy to provide more detailed info later, when it's not so late...

20+50 seconds from "7m17 Hummel - SEALs (with Insert)" (Album version) (leaving out 34 seconds in between)
40 seconds from "2m05 Tour's Over Bob"
30 seconds from "1m02 Naval Weapons Depot"
2,5 min from "8m18B SEAL Attack 2nd Half" (Shower Room scene)

acathla og Per -- kjenner dere hverandre fra før? Rare to have two fellow Norwegian Zimmer fans...not in general, but here on the board. Well, it's me and First Breath, of course, but we've been here forever.

After reading the booklet for The Rock, I keep thinking about how different Harry Gegson-Williams' experience sounded on this compared to Armageddon. They fought to get him credited as a co-composer and is even listed on the cover of the album, then for Armageddon he wrote half the music but only got an additional credit and the the only mention of him is a special thanks. Just very odd.

I do have to say, as a fan of the original album presentation (and yes, I do think album presentation is also an art), I'm surprised at how well the 2 CD set flows!

HGW is not credited in the opening though. I still remember how the opening music credits looked:

Music by
NICK GLENNIE-SMITH/
HANS ZIMMER

I never said he was. I said he's credited as a co-composer and listed on the cover of the albums.

If I remember correctly, NGS & HZ were contractually the main composers on the film. But when the album was about to be released, both composers asked to add HGW name on the album, due to his substantial contribution.

Yeah that's pretty much what the booklet says too. In the film he's the only "additional" composer listed (with The Chase being credited to Don Harper). I'm guessing "co-composer" wasn't a contractual option for the credits.

So, what are your favorite tracks? I am still going through this release. All of the tracks SOUND AMAZING! And those demos for The Chase, especially II are really, really, really good. I mean crazy good.

I am so happy to finally have an official expanded and remastered treatment of this amazing score.

The Chase
Possible Romantic Cue
Opening-Naval Weapons Depot
Naval Weapons Depot (Rock Mix)
Fort Walton, Kansas
Finale (The last four minutes of the big 16 minute cue)
The Chase Demo II

These are my favorites so far.

In Chicago, Illinois here in the States there are other big time Zimmer fans. We do exist! He is my favorite composer!

Thanks for the kind words !

We did our best to produce a great album, so I hope we managed !! smile

And yes the Chase demos are pretty damn good (even though not on par, quality-wise, with the rest). The first is very reminiscent of Bad Boys, very much more "Mancina" influenced (Don Harper was from Mancina's team so no wonder).

But then turning into high octane HGW electro/orchestral when he took over the cue. Until the very last minute they couldn't decide what to use, it was the last cue approved just a few days before the film's release. And that reason is probably why the track ended at the very end of the 1996 album release, I think in their first album assembly that track was not there.
