The songs were sent to many of the singers on the project and to key people in the session singer community going back nearly two years, and no one could ID those voices. (And I was quite paranoid that doing this would result in news about the release leaking out!) The Guild ultimately asserted that our efforts were satisfactory and that we could proceed with the release of the tracks, with the understanding that payment in kind would be made if we ever find out who the voices are, and also that I see that their credits are added to any new printings of the packaging, plus update the metadata. The Guild actually didn't have anything on file for the movie whatsoever, not even the choir list (yet they did on the Home Alone scores, so it's a mystery). Thanks for chiming in, Mike. It's fascinating that even on a movie of this scale, and considering who all was involved at the time, that information on those vocals is nowhere to be found, or was never documented. And it's interesting to hear the legalities and requirements of making changes to any subsequent printings should any of this information come to light. Wow, crazy. I'm always frustrated by the lack of credit, especially for voices on a lot of scores. If nothing else so I can tag things 'properly'. Out of curiosity while we're there as is there any info on the arrangers for God Rest Ye and Take Me Out to the Ballgame? Was it Williams or someone else? Same here. All of this came to my attention during the tagging and adding to iTunes. And I was wondering about those tracks you mention as well.

I'm going to guess those were done by Angela Morley. They were not among the cues in Sandy Courage's journal and JW was not listed as an orchestrator for the project, so that would leave Neufeld and Morley. Since they are source music my best bet is the latter.

"Mine was missing, too, and I ordered directly from LLL. A replacement was sent immediately, no further ordering necessary" ------------------------- I'm sure the good folks at LLL would send me a replacement booklet, but I'd rather save them the bother (and additional postage) and just have them include it within some future CDs I order from them. Yeah, I usually do that too. My personal experience with the customer service of La-La Land, Intrada, and Quartet is that they are great and go the extra mile. La-La Land, Intrada, Quartet, etc... has happened that I needed a replacement disc (either because it was a bad pressing or because they issued a general replacement disc), and I usually try to bundle it up with another order, as I know international shipping is steep. But in any case, my copy of HOOK contains two booklets.

Mike Matessino, I was glancing through an older conversation you and I had via Facebook Messenger in 2019, where I was inquiring about a possible Hook re-release from the original masters. Your reply was basically "there's always a chance, but things are on hold with Sony Music." If my calculations are correct, you spent seven years in the overall process of bringing the new Ultimate edition to us. So that should mean you were already in the process. I want to say thank you for being as candid as you could, and replying to a fan in any measure. Your work paid off. On an unrelated note, having worked on two Robert Wise projects (Sound of Music and Star Trek) what is your overall view on your experiences between them? I know this a Hook thread, but while I have your attention...

When one considers what HAS been packed into this 3 disc edition, it comes as a slight surprise to find it doesn't feature the original 'You Are The Pan' album edit in spruced up glory. As this was the version (wherein Williams combined two separate cues into one perfect whole) that most of us grew up with. Still...small cheese I guess (and it IS on the original album and LLL 2 disc edition). Crazy Equate Time! I've always thought of Williams' HOOK akin to Barry's DANCES WITH WOLVES, in that each new track seemed to usher in another brand new theme! So, imagine finding out that DWW was originally gonna be a musical, and John Barry and Don Black had penned a load of songs to sing a long with all the themes that Barry had written. That's what Disc 3 is like on this CD.
