And I notice that all these popping up on ebay and the like are all STILL SEALED. Shows where a lot of the final released went to (not mine though).

Re-sealing a box like that isn't a very difficult task if they have the simple tools.
Google CD shrink wrap and there are loads of items like this:

They horded them for this moment. Yet even asking $450 this early on is just crazy. Gas is pushing $5 a gallon and food prices are on the rise, I'm lucky if I can put down $20 for any disc now.

Did you see that cheeky shyte offering a 30% discount? Yours for only $420. I hope mine isn't lost in the post (I was one of the last successfully to order it new from SAE - for ME!).

From Moviesunlimited:

Dear Video Enthusiast,

Please be advised the the following title from your
recent order has been discontinued and is no longer
available. The title has been deleted from your order.
YOU HAVE NOT BEEN CHARGED FOR THIS ITEM.

Please accept our sincerest apologies for any
inconvenience you may have been caused.

I kinda hate that they had the item for order and didn't have any in stock. Oh well. There goes my slim hope of getting a copy.

Don't worry some label will re-issue these individually, you know it is going to happen! Limited Editions are dead!

Good.

This means that people who enjoy and want to buy the music can without paying through the nose to Speculators.

Once again, the labels can control the speculators, but they don't! Limit how many one person can buy, say 2-3 copies. Yes, the speculators would buy 2-3 from each retailer, but it would be a start. Do the labels do that, no! This only happens sometimes when it is the last 100 left and they will limited it one per customer. It is obvious that the labels are in it to sell their releases as fast as possible no matter what, to make their money back then onto the next limited re-mastered re-release!! No one better call me a speculator and I am not defending them either. I do buy releases for the music and on occasion I have jumped at an unknown (to me) title and then find out it is not my tastes. I then try to resell it and always lose money on it, but I do not buy 4+ copies to resell. It also does not help when retailers hold releases back and then try and sell them for higher prices (SAE-PREDATOR) or use them as part of a promotion to sell their own labels releases (BSX-1941).

I placed orders from 5 different retailers, and all were cancelled. Although HMV's email says their suppliers don't have it... but they're going to keep trying! (right).

I realize this is probably hopeless, but I've put an offer up on the trading post. I have a number of some very rare limited editions like the recent 2-disc Die Hard and 2-disc 1941... see what else I have to trade here...

I'm willing to do a part trade/part cash deal, and accept a copy of the set in like new to near mint condition.

Mine's arrived (with a £40 customs/PO handling price ticket) Now I'm afraid to open it, but with less good reason than my fear about the Ben-Hur set (which arrived at the same time after another Queen's ransom demand of £21). Don't get rid of your "The Egyptian" deluxe set. That's just silly. That's going for around 5x original price last time I looked, yet nobody's having mine - surprised?

Try these?

I see prices without and with VAT. Is there a VAT exempt?

Dunno. I would say, if you're EU resident, you pay. Outside (including the US) you don't.

Awesome. I ordered from the second store (because it has the lower but still outrageous price). Now I get to wait for them to send me an email saying they don't have it and can't get it.

I didn't pay VAT for mine, but I got mine from SAE (ordered Feb 22!) and paid £40 customs duty /PO handling charge. Got it today.

Oh by the way, it's not me that's awesome if you were trying to thank me - for all their faults, it's good old Google. That's what they're for. Type "Miklós Rózsa Treasury" in exact phrase field (accents optional) and you can narrow down to whichever region (e.g. United Kingdom). Just keep doing it every day until the cows come home and you get what you want.

Oh, and I'd always phone if the time was right and you are able (without breaching your contract of employment).

I did use Google and found a couple of places where it was listed. That's how I got 4 of the 5 orders I placed. I didn't find the ones you linked to though. I don't know why. I went through multiple pages. Anyway, what I meant was awesome was that I could place another order that would eventually be cancelled. Not that I can afford it if it goes through anyway. On top of paying $120 more I'll end up having to pay credit card interest as well (since I won't be able to pay off the charge in full at the end of the month).

Including express insured shipping and UK import duty and Post Office handling charge (they pay the tax on your behalf and then bill you an extra fee for their trouble) I've calculated (using the £/$ exchange rate that PayPal quoted) that I paid £189.96. This works out at today's rate at $301.51. Although this is close to the advertised price on many a UK site which does includes our evil multi-millionaire Chancellor George Osborne's 20% V.A.T. rip off (Value Added Tax = UK's "Sales Tax"). And they say Ozzy Osbourne is the Prince of Darkness.

Any luck with that or am I still looking?

Sorry you had a problem with that link. I don't think it was the most direct link. This might be it http://www.mdt.co.uk/MDTSite/product//FSMBOX04.htm ... but it doesn't say whether or not it's in stock. There's a phone number at the bottom. International code for UK is +44
