I really enjoy seeing the creativity displayed in these covers, and my many thanks to the creators. I am considering posting one myself, but I do have a few questions:

1) Can anyone recommend a 'free/no cost' photo/picture sharing website that allows for third party hosting and proper linking to other websites? I was quite happy with Photobucket until they went to a pay site model some time back...

2) What is the typical / recommended / desired size for the submissions? 800×800? 1200×1200? 1800×1800?

Thank you for any suggestions.

I believe most of us have been using Flickr for image hosting.

For my artwork, I've used a straight 5" x 5" at 300 dpi, giving a 1500x1500 image. Hope that helps!

ImageShack is good but the free trial lasts the usual thirty days. The best one I found was Flickr which gives you 1TB free - I have over 500 covers there but for some reason it continues to say I'm using 0.0% of my allowance. Odd. Anyway, the size comes down to your preference - I think most here are 1500x1500. Happy trails.

...and I have a DeviantART account, and use my "scraps" folder there as a location for mine.

And in reply to JTWFan77’s request for The Private Lives of Elizabeth & Essex, will this do?

Well it'll do for me smile

That's a vast improvement on the original cover.

To put it mildly, yes that'll do! Thanks so much!

Has anyone ever had a crack at an alternate cover for 'Empire of the Sun'? I think the La-La Land cover is brilliant but I'd love something bespoke for disc 2.

How about this, based on one of the book jacket designs?

...gawd, I'd never NORMALLY use Papyrus, but the book designer did, so I stuck with it...

Not what I was expecting, I assumed it would be something like the Blu-ray artwork, but using the book art is so different that I like it. Many thanks!

Raferjanders, I really love your 'Black Cauldron' artwork but I was wondering if you could post a version without the 'Utah Symphony Orchestra' text? I would like to use it for the film tracks instead as I quite like the original LP rerecording artwork.

Also, I was wondering if anyone was interested in having a crack at an alternate cover for 'The Valley of Gwangi'? I think the Intrada cover is great and will use it for the main score program but I'd love some alternates for the additional music and 'Breckenridge Wild West Show Music'.

'Taiyo no-Teikoku.' Empire Of The Sun in Japanese - the Kanji characters were printed on the cover of the cinema brochure. Thought I'd leave them on for added authenticity.

Ooh yeah, that's nice, too. I think we've both decided "enough with the 'falling burning plane' image already, let's try something else..." :-)

Did anybody have a go at that The Rose and the Jackal yet?
I've certainly not been able to find any better/larger photos than that DVD cover, or decent/interesting artwork.
For the sake of having something, here's a fairly basic text-and-frame job...

...oh, and by the way, if Brad's about: I've got a copy of 'The Man Who Haunted Himself' on order, and when it turns up I'll definitely be using your cover for that - cheers! :-D

I whipped up this cover for The Traveling Executioner based on my preferred poster for the movie.

Also, here's an alternate cover for Justine based on the French poster art:
