Just had confirmation that my Land Before Time [The Hornier Edition - as no one is calling it] replacement disc has been shipped.

How do we request replacements?

Just email.

But what if you didn't order from Intrada? Are they gonna give a free remastered expanded CD to anyone that requests one without proof of purchase?

You could always take a screenshot of whatever soundtrack label you ordered from.

Good point.

Thought we were talking mainly about Intrada and SAE, figuring they would just check their order numbers etc.

I've requested one from SAE by email, but I've not had a response yet.

I just got my alternate disc today and after listening back to back to the original pressing, I can't seem to tell the difference. Would someone please help clarify specifically what I should be noticing between the two takes? I believe it's 2:15-2:30 or so?

I believe it’s 1.55-2.15 and JH overlayed french horns that are louder than his original intent.

I really don't hear anything "off" with this release. I may not even bother requesting a replacement disc. I'm a happy camper as is.

Got my replacement CD! Thanks, Intrada!

The horns are definitely back! SO prominent now in the opening track.

Another easy way to see if you have the new disc is to check the CD-TEXT. Originally there was a goof/joke on track 7 "The Rescue , Discovery Of The Great Scott Valley". On the new disc, that is gone. It merely is the track name as it should be.

Mine arrived today. Listening to it now - what a difference in the horns.
I still don't know which I prefer to be honest so I've replaced the first track of the original with that from the replacement and moved the original version to the end of the programme and labelled it Original Version.

I assume we'll need to send a note to Intrada to request the replacement disc? I ordered my copy from them directly so I wasn't sure if they were simply sending out replacements automatically.

Seems wasteful to request a replacement for something hardly noticeable. More plastic into the landfill!

I’ll be keeping mine as is.

We got bigger problems than a few extra CD's in the landfills. wink
I'd be happy if they offered a digital download of that one track though.

Big time, but consuming less is a lifestyle choice we can all easily make right now.

I’m with you, a digital download would be great.

I noticed it right away, though I knew it was in track 1 somewhere already.
And now that I have both, I did a comparison and the difference is pretty clear. The fixed version sounds a lot better -- the error one is really skewed in its balance.

But hey, you do you.

Thing is it's not an 'original version', it's an error. The recording itself is the same (I believe), just a bad mix.
But sure, if you want to do that on your listening, I guess you can?
*shrug*

I don’t believe this is an accurate description as mix has nothing to do with it. The take on the first pressing is the circle take. That is, Horner’s master take that he felt was final. However he preferred the horn playing for that small section in an earlier, unusable take, so he edited that in. We’ve replicated that here in this updated disc.

....and it sounds amazing! Thank you Intrada for an exquisite release!
