What's everyone's favorite track or tracks so far? End Credits track for me. It's hard to choose though. Really love all the variations of Gina's theme throughout the score.

The extended version of Rush, Rush is really cool.

Absolutely 100% all the variations of Gina’s Theme are what I have on repeat. I even added a new one to that list I made the other day. Hard to hear in the film with all the noise and dialogue and low volume mix but right after Tony slaps Gina in the club bathroom a few notes of her theme plays, which I never got to hear clearly before.

Whatever you guys have in store for Black Friday won’t compare to Scarface. My #1 holy grail and it’s finally mine! smile

What do you think of the End Credits version of Gina’s theme?

I never realized her theme plays after he slaps her either. This is a score that needs to be heard outside the film to truly hear everything.

The End Credits suite seems to be comprised of Tony’s Theme and Gina’s and Elvira’s Theme from the original soundtrack album, tho as mentioned before on this forum, the mixing is slightly different. To answer your question, love the end credits version of Gina’s Theme in particular the transition between themes and then the notes hit hard. This release can do no wrong. La La Land just ran a clinic on how to do movie scores and proved once again why they’re the best in the business.

So I have to admit an error on my part. The Scarface soundtrack I owned Pre-LLL release was a download from itunes. It’s the 2003 release. Gina’s theme on that one sounds way different than the End Credits Suite. The 1983 album version of Gina’s theme and the End Credits suite do not sound nearly as different. So again, my apologies folks. I was totally ignorant to the fact I had the 2003 remixed album.

We all make mistakes. No worries! But yeah this is why I said in a previous post for everyone to hold on to the 2003 album if you have it because those are new mixes not on the La La Land release, so that way you can have more Scarface music in your collection (new version of the two main themes and remixes of the songs). It’s still easily available on iTunes or if you prefer a physical copy, only $13 on Amazon.

Thanks Neil for that information. I am glad Scarface is not the last thing you'll be working on. You always do a spectacular job and deserve all the praise you get.

Thanks Epic. I'm definitely holding onto the 2003 remixed album as well. I like the remix of Push it to the Limit they have on there because it feels a little closer to the film version for me.

I got through all of CD 1 and most of CD 2. That Main Title track really packs a powerful punch. I discovered I really love the tracks that take place in Bolivia. I can feel the danger of being surrounded by Sosa and his thugs in those tracks.

I should clarify I got the score tapes from Universal Studios in February 2020. The album master and extended "Push It To The Limit" and "Rush, Rush" came later from UMe.

That’s pretty cool. Are you allowed to say what track held up the release?

I actually really like the extended versions of both. I had only heard the extended Push it to the Limit on youtube and always wished I could experience it better quality. I was so happy to see you guys added it on this release.

Joe Esposito’s “Success” and the instrumental trailer music were also nice first time listens for me.

I think there's been enough "Inside Baseball" in this thread. I hope people enjoy the music. The release was a lot of work and I'm happy people are enjoying it.

Hi Mr Bulk,
I had to watch this movie more than fifty times to listen to the tracks without stopping while waiting for this release one day....But when I got a special version of the 2003 dvd there was the making of the movie and the tracks were playing in the background music. Then I realized that they were alternative versions of the original tracks played in the movie (they are mixed in the same way but with added bass, drums, claps)
For example he plays the version of the chase track with drums and toms which is really beautiful or the main title on a funky slow version
Did you have to make a choice of tracks to put on the disc ?
I also saw that the movie version of push it to the limit does not appear on the disc?

Thanks again Neil.

Sorry to spam this thread folks. I am just in fucking awe of this release. I have been waiting such a long time for this and I happen to have a three day weekend from work so I have nothing but time to rock out.

The Bolivia/Sosa tracks are really growing on me as I listen to them more.

The track Gina Dead is so emotional. Tony is forced to deal with the human wreckage he had let his life become in his quest for power. Now the one pure thing in his life he was trying to protect, his sister, is dead too and all because of him. This little gem evokes all of that emotion.

The only versions of "Push It To The Limit" that were on any of our tapes came from UMe. It wasn't on the 1/2" 3-track from Universal Studios so no "film version," which we probably couldn't release anyway.

I can't tell you what was used in any of the docs. It was outside the scope of this project.

I suppose that Giorgio Moroder took part in this project? he had another copy of the tapes with additional material?
It's too bad...
But anyway you did a great job because without LA LA LAND RECORDS we still wouldn't have seen the light of this original tape....
2023 is the 40th anniversary can there still be something....Because I remember DIE HARD with the 2 CD version in 2017 and then the 3cd version in 2018 for the 30th anniversary. smile
Thank You So Much for your hard work Mr Bulk

Neil, if you haven’t already can you tell us your favorite tracks from this release? What will get the most play time from you?

Maybe not the answer you're looking for, but what satisfied me the most with this release was getting to include the original album and the two extended songs from the original masters.

Wondering about the extended version of "She's on Fire" that remains unreleased - it's heard in the film twice. Extended version would have the extended intro, longer guitar solo and repeated second verse.

That makes sense to me, Neil. Because I had more familiarity with the 2003 version of the album the original album and its great sound here all feel like a newer experiences to me. I love it.

Another note about the film mix I've just discovered... the track "Cuban III" that doesn't appear to be used in the film was replaced by this uncredited salsa track, used in the film as Tony and Manny drive around Miami before the chainsaw scene...

But I know that Giorgio Moroder utilised two 24-track Studer tape machines for the recording of this soundtrack!
The music was recorded on 48 tracks (2 studers synchronized)

No wonder the mix is so damn clean. This is compulsively listenable.

It is one of the cleanest and most crisp releases I have ever heard. I've been listening to it a lot since receiving it. I have been really enjoying 409 Citrus Drive. That Main Title track just sounds so fucking powerful.

All the songs from the original album sound so good and so different than the 2003 remixed album I own that listening to those is not like listening to a whole new album.

*Importing into Apple Music*

Genre: Dance & House?! I don't even know what that is. I never would have dreamed there'd be a house full of people dancing to this score.

Yeah, I saw that - I just changed it to SOUNDTRACK in iTunes.
