jwb - see the below note from MV regarding these releases. Looks like Superman: TAS may be on the horizon.

While working on Vol 2 a number of episodes of the first "65" got the axe and will be featured on Vol 3: Robin's Reckoning Parts 1 and 2, Day of the Samurai and The Clock King to name a few.

Our plan is to have Vol 3 out next year (possibly another 4 disc set). That would be all the music we would release from the first 65. We are also contemplating releasing an empty box when vol 3 comes out so people can put all 3 volumes inside. It would be like $5 (or around there) if people wanted to buy it separately or free with purchase of Vol 3...something like that.

Then we would focus on the "Adventures of Batman and Robin" and "The New Batman Adventures."

Hopefully, Superman TAS, Justice League (TAS and Unlimited) and the two BTAS animated direct to DVD movies (Subzero and Batwoman) will also see the light of day in the next few years.

This is some of the finest music written for television. It's been a joy and honor to bring these out and we hope to continue to mine this incredible slate of superhero music.

We are also looking into stuff like Animaniacs and Tiny Toons. The ealry 90's was truly the 2nd Golden Age of Animation at Warners Bros. We are doing our part to preserve that legacy.

Will "The Man Who Killed Batman" and "Fear of Victory" be on volume 3?

Those two, along with "I Am the Night", feature some of the best music from the remaining 33 episodes of the first 65!

When you get to The Adventures of Batman and Robin, please include House and Garden, Harlequinade, Catwalk, Riddler's Reform, Make 'Em Laugh, Batgirl Returns, Second Chance and Deep Freeze. Please!

Just a last word. If there would be a Star Wars tv show with the John Williams kind of music performed by a 30 piece orchestra due to budgetary reasons, I also would prefer the complete LSO from the film versions. There is a difference between deliberately smaller scores and reduced orchestras due to budgetary reasons. That`s exactly my point. But I doubt you`ll understand.

There is a STAR WARS TV Show, it's called "STAR WARS-THE CLONE WARS", it's scored by Kevin Kiner.

They do have orchestral sessions for it, I'll have to ask him about how large the are, but it wouldn't surprise me if they were in the 30 to 35 piece range.

Ford A. Thaxton

As far as I remember those scores were recorded in Prague by a pretty large orchestra. Guess why????

I think I tried my point very clear and explained why I won`t buy those CDs. It`s exactly the kind of music (heroic superhero music) that sounds best performed by a large orchestra. That`s my opinion!. Your response indeed proofs that at least some people got dumber after reading my post.

Well I understood what you are saying Counterpoint. It's really not that hard to comprehend. wink
.

Thank you very much indeed. I thought that I am insane after that weird debate with Mr. Thaxton.

THE BODYGUARD seems to pass unnoticed, but for me is the most interesting title announced.

people only remember Whitney Huston's songs but Silvestri's original orchestral score (dont know how many musicians played it, pretty sure more than 35 wink ) is quite impressive, with a gorgeous "solitary trumpet" main theme, secondary themes, action cues, tension, lyrical moments... A great piece, really.

Exactly. It`s a pretty large orchestra. And Silvestri wrote some impressive themes for that film. The score is gorgeous indeed. One of my favorite Silvestri scores. I love it.

Well, it meant exactly what I said. For me the orchestra is too small too buy those CDs. .

That has got to be one of the most stupid things I've ever seen on this board..

Everyone here is DUMBER just for having to be exposed to such a statement.

I won't even got into how hypocritical the statement given what you posted afteward.

Shakes head in total shock..

Ford A. Thaxton

And you know what I think is the dumbest? To compare a deliberetely intimate score like Testament with a superhero score.

You really haven't a clue do you?

Barry Gray would write scores for the GERRY ANDERSON shows with groups as small as six players.....

Episodes of THE MAN FROM UNCLE would use groups no bigger then 27 players for the pilot and 8 to 16 for the weekly episodes.

Lee Holdridge used about 30 players on his scores for the short-lived TV Series WIZARDS AND WARRIORS.

Arthur B. Rubinstein had about the name number for THE SCARECROW AND MRS. KING..

Composers write for the groups they can afford.

To dismiss any score because "The Orchestra isn't big enough" is just insane.

Ford A. Thaxton

I just listened to David Newman`s fantastic score to "Galaxy Quest". He wrote a small ensemble cue called "Galaxy Quest:The Classic TV Theme" which is supposed to be the main theme of the fictional TV show. The reduced sound is performed by a small orchestra because of the limited budget of the "original TV show". I can`t help it, but the rest of the score performed by a pretty large orchestra sounds better.

Your argument about the size of the orchestra is moot. They had about 60 to 70 players (sometimes more) on the show and it sounds stunning!

Yeah, the orchestra on the B:TAS scores never sound small. Besides, the scores were always really brilliantly orchestrated. I'm really looking forward to Volume II.

I have to say that what really made me hit the roof was the promise of some of Bruce Broughton and Don Davis' music from Tiny Toon Adventures! The scores for that series were wonderful, evoking the histrionics of Carl Stalling while nevertheless having their own specific sound. I love Broughton's Cartoon Concerto, looking forward to that release.

Because then the first release would be superfluous, and everyone who purchased it would have something worthless on their hands (metaphorically speaking). Re-releasing it with slightly less doesn't screw over everyone that bought in the first place expecting it to be a truly limited edition.

Are you saying that as an owner of the first edition, I should feel some pleasure that others will now be deprived of that track?

i know i will!

Essential purchase for me, just for the undoubtedly excellent Walker suites.
A pity though that I have to buy a 4CD set to get just the four Walker-only suites that would easily fit on a single disc.

I wish that Warner would do the same, what with Animaniacs not even being completely released on DVD, and most of those shows not having a Blu-ray release (yet).

Blu-Ray? who needs BR?
I watch this show on a 20 inch flat screen 4:3 cathode ray tv and it looks amazing!
