Bond has just moved with the times. The Connery Bond of the 60's was boorish, sexist, misogynist. Roger Moore was campy and spoofish, totally unbelievable and still sexist/misogynist...maybe a bit less so. Then he changed again for the Dalthon's and Brosnan's too. And he changed again, to suit the times, for the Craig films. People bleating about one against the other, for better or worse, are just stuck in their time capsule, missing the good ol' days. Things move on. You just gotta move on with them (or stop watching).
Spot on. Although I didn’t stop watch the Daniel Craig movies, I just stopped caring about them. The opening of a new Bond movie used to be an event for me - was there for the first permance on opening day for every Bond since The Spy Who Loved Me right through to Casino Royale but now I’m happy to see them when I can be bothered.
Also have every Bond on blu ray up DAD. Each to their own but someone would have to pay me to have SkyAwful and Specbore in my collection.
I saw the movie today and really got my action fix. I thought it was well-done with some amazing action sequences. I can't really comment on the music as I've never really studied Bond music. Still don't like the Billie Eilish song. I noticed members commenting on older Bond themes emerging in this score, but I couldn't really identify them. My ignorance. I was very entertained throughout this movie.
I really liked the Billie Eilish song, but I think its greatest strength is actually its melody, which Zimmer et al. used as the love theme for Bond and Madeleine throughout the film. Zimmer et al. may not have really written any new melodic thematic material, but the combination of this theme and the two from OHMSS helped the score feel a lot more coherent.
Not every statement of their theme is on the album, I'm looking forward to a more complete FYC version (though that might end up editing the theme out entirely, as happened on Skyfall with the Bond theme, from what I remember).
This is my favorite statement of the theme, starting at 2:40. Zimmer et al. even manage to weave the Bond theme into it a bit:
There's also a lovely, ethereal statement of it in this track, from 2:00 to the end
It makes for a REALLY effective love theme, in the mold of the classic Barry themes.
Has anybody else noticed that the Dolby Atmos version of ‘Cuba Chase’ on Apple Music is a slightly different take to the CD version? (From 2mins 50 to about 3.12). Unfortunately, the Atmos version cannot be purchased from Apple Music, only the ‘regular’ lossless version. Apart from it adding to the depth of the Atmos mix, it’s a bit of a mystery why a different take was used. I need to check the movie again tomorrow when I get into the office to see which was the actual film take! I haven’t listened to the whole thing in Atmos to see af anything else is different but may do going forward.

I haven't noticed the difference will try hear for that,
but on main 'gun barrel' track, in dolby surround, the gun barrel goes right to left, not left to right which is weird (maybe its iphone bug with airpods, not sure)

Mark Wherry on Facebook has provided the answer if anyone is actually interested…
“I did the Atmos version of the soundtrack, but this wasn't considered for the original release. Bear in mind, the stereo version was done and dusted 18 months before the actual release, as it turned out, before Apple had announced Spatial Audio for Apple Music. There was some confusion surrounding Cuba Chase, but the version on the Atmos soundtrack is the version that was selected for this purpose; the track lengths are otherwise identical. It wasn't a case of different takes, more different iterations. And, as you can imagine, there was a ton of files, data, and so on to pick through, but I was pretty happy with how the Atmos Cuba Chase turned out. It was by far the most complicated mix on the album, but it's a hell of a ride and the brass playing is just beyond fantastic”
Does anyone have a list of tracks in chronological order that includes the bonus tracks Q 1-4?
I posted this about 10 pages back on this thread…
Just in case anyone is trying to keep track (or hasn’t seen it yet). The CD plays in chronological order apart from the song which should go as track 5. I simply renumbered them in iTunes to make the whole thing chronological
Cool. I was not sure if those Q tracks were anything. Thanks for the help. I hope we get the complete score to this.
They're all fairly tuneless and backgroundy, I wouldn't know how to figure out where in the film they're from.
I don't recognize any of them, and I've seen the film three times. It's entirely possible they're not from the actual score, they do sound more like synth demos.
The more important extra cue is the one from Steve Mazzaro's website, Safin, the opening cue.:
I believe the chronological list of all released music would be:
1) "Gun Barrel" 0:56 2) "Safin" 5:09 (from Steve Mazzaro website) 3) "Matera" 1:59 4) "Message from an Old Friend" 6:35 5) "Square Escape" 2:06 6) "No Time to Die" (performed by Billie Eilish) 4:04 7) "Someone Was Here" 2:56 8) "Not What I Expected" 1:24 9) "What Have You Done?" 2:14 10) "Shouldn't We Get to Know Each Other First?" 1:21 11) "Cuba Chase" 5:40 12) "Back to MI6" 1:30 13) "Good to Have You Back" 1:17 14) "Lovely to See You Again" 1:25 15) "Home" 3:45 16) "Norway Chase" 5:06 17) "Gearing Up" 2:53 18) "Poison Garden" 3:58 19) "The Factory" 6:42 29) "I'll Be Right Back" 4:59 21) "Opening the Doors" 2:44 22) "Final Ascent" 7:25 23) "We Have All The Time In The World" (performed by Louis Armstrong) (from the OHMSS soundtrack album)
