Damn You SONY!!!!
There goes my REIVERS Deluxe Edition dream frown

"Faleel Morricone" on FB posted the following lists of Williams and Horner scores that can't be expanded now. Thankfully I think most/all Goldsmith Sony expansions have happened, though obviously now none of those that are OOP can be reissued:

"This is list of Williams scores from them:

1969 ?The Reivers [Paramount]
1986 SpaceCamp [Fox]
1991 Hook [Sony]
1997 Seven Years In Tibet [Sony]
1998 Stepmom [Sony] ?
1999 Angela's Ashes [Paramount]
2005 Memoirs Of A Geisha? [Sony (International) / Disney (UK)]
2011 The Adventures of Tintin [Paramount]
2011 War Horse [Disney]?
2012 Lincoln [Disney (US) / Fox? (International)]
2013 The Book Thief [Fox]

And Horner:

1992 - ?Sneakers
1994 - Legends Of The Fall
1995 - Jumanji
1996 - The Spitfire Grill
1998 - Deep Impact?
1998 - The Mask Of Zorro
1999 - Bicentennial Man
1999 - Freedom Song
2000 - The Perfect Storm
2001 - Enemy At The Gates
2001 - Iris
2002 - Windtalkers
2002 - The Four Feathers
2003 - The Missing
2005 - The Legend Of Zorro
2010 - The Karate Kid
2012 - The Amazing Spider-Man
2015 - Southpaw
2016 - The Magnificent Seven"

Major bummer from me on many of those, particularly The Reivers (well MV already told us that one had other rights complications, but now it's even more impossible I guess), Tintin, Sneakers, Legends of the Fall, The Perfect Storm, The Missing, and both Zorro scores.

MV, regarding Sony, could you possibly comment on what this means for Hook?

Well we'll have to agree to disagree on that, but surely you'll agree with me on Free Willy 2 at least? Sony-owned OST only had just over 10 minutes of that lovely orchestral score.

I will defer to your judgement on that one!

Oh you mean the list of Williams scores Jason posted and the Horner scores I posted?

They were posted here and on JWFan before being posted to Facebook.

Ah, thanks, I didn't know that. Faleel did not credit you with the info and I repeated his mistake (that is, unless he figured them out for himself).

If he figured them all out himself using Jason's and my exact wording (except for the curious placement of a ? ) that's a hell of a coincidence. All he did was strip out some of the other details. Not a big deal but no, he didn't write it. I guess if we'd posted it to Filmtracks he'd have seen it there.

Obviously, one's tastes are one's tastes. But all of those Williams and Horner scores have very generous CD releases (with the possible exception of "The Reivers," which I haven't seen in many years, so I can't recall how much is missing). I don't think I would buy a single one of those Horner scores again, even though I enjoy many of them. Not speaking for anybody but me, of course.

But there are many Sony Music-owned scores that have not been so lucky. I'm more concerned about those.

My favourite days for collecting soundtracks were the 80's and the 90's. At that time, when something was issued, it really meant something.

And when I see that soundtracks are mastered louder and louder every year, I really don't care not to have more coming.

Actually, it's an excellent news.

Dear MV.

I want to ask you about "The Robe" composed by Alfred Newman.

I have in my collection La La Land Records release of this score from 2012.

There is isolated score track on dvd and blu ray of "The Robe" and Newman score sounds vastly better than LLL or previous Varese release. Sound is much more better on isolated score track od blu ray and dvd.

It is a chance that this score will be released from better sources with better sound? This score deserved it.

Is that true? I have the LLL (love it, the Varese was nice, too), and think the sound on that is pretty killer.

I do have that blu ray, better check it out again.

LLL does not and never will do sequel scores.

You're kidding, right?

Matrix Reloaded
Matrix Revolutions
Batman Returns
Batman Forever
Speed 2
Home Alone 2

etc, etc, etc.

And anyway, Young is scoring a remake of "Pet Sematary," not a sequel, correct?

(And yes, Mr. Marshall is a jokester.)
