I'll make some predictions based on 2016's Varese releases of soundtracks that have never been available on Cd before.

...9 To 5...

Correct me if I am wrong but Mr Townson is part of Varese, so why would anything he produced be off limits? If that is the case then the lists will probably be narrowed down dramatically.

The stuff he has produced he may revisit since he's the original producer of those albums. Yes he works there and does a fine job!

I work with Peter on many of these projects and I just thought I'd add that as I see there may be some confusion about the series. If music is available to expand, we will add it. It really depends on a lot of things. No promises on everything.

Reissues may be expanded if the music or rights holders make it available to us.

Love the discussion and ideas being thrown around here.

Thanks for the info, Bryan. I had reached my erroneous conclusion based on what Peter said earlier in this thread: "Don't confuse catalogue titles that you wanted expanded as that falls under the CLUB brand that Robert Townson handles. Expanded A PERFECT MURDER, SPHERE, PANIC ROOM, etc. etc. etc. falls under that category. AND NO, those titles I used as examples does NOT mean we are working on them. smile"

So for additional clarification, does this mean that expanded releases of titles Varese holds in perpetuity ("catalogue titles") are not possible for this series, but that expanded releases of scores originally put out by other labels could be possible? I'm still just a little confused about what we can ask for.

Yavar

Hi Yavar,

Yes, for example here are some good ideas of our working criteria:

Constant requests for certain composers. For example we picked Boulevard Nights because we would receive many requests for more Lalo, fans would include this in their lists, we saw this was available, and we licensed it.

Hard to find rarities formerly on LP or CD (yes, we consider it if it was on other labels). If it makes sense to reissue, we will do that. If more music is available, we will add it but no promises.

Unreleased titles. A chance to find and release some cool titles - where available of course.

As for in-house or perpetuity titles. Depends but Peter laid all that out beautifully.

To the other poster - keep sending us your requests. Peter, Cary and myself go through all requests and it's never too late to request anything.

Hope this makes sense.

"Mother, Jugs & Speed" would be very cool! Produced by Quincy Jones.

Swamp Thing (mentioned as forthcoming in a PR message from Varese, than everything mysteriously went quiet).

Ghostbusters.

I'd like to request these more recent scores, which weren't made available on CD.

Solomon Kane - Klaus Badelt
Battle For Terra - Abel Korzeniowski
Transformers 3: Dark Of The Moon - Steve Jablonsky

I have no clue if this is even possible, but I would LOVE to have a complete score to the Paramount Pictures/Disney joint venture, POPEYE (1980). The film has always been a great guilty pleasure of mine. I have the official album on vinyl, and I'm aware that Harry Nilsson has a lot of demo tracks on his website and that the original album was released a while back on iTunes (The songs were re-recorded in the studio for the retail soundtrack; most of the songs heard in the actual movie itself, however, were recorded in Malta, where filming was under way - director Robert Altman wanted a raw, "unpolished" sound for the songs, which he claimed would make them seem more naturalistic/realistic.)..

But it would be AWESOME to have the original album (including "Everything is Food", one of the better songs from the film but left off the soundtrack in lieu of the unused "Din' We".) PLUS the marvelous instrumental score. There were some wonderfully lively, fun, spirited arrangements in the movie that would be terrific to have on a CD (Van Dyke Parks is credited as the music arranger; I don't know whether he was the composer of the orchestral pieces or not).

I'm with ya on POPEYE, 2102fan.
Tom Pierson* is credited with the score music and I would love Intrada to release the whole thing.
Maybe 2 discs with the film score/songs on disc 1 and the LP plus demos/outtakes on disc 2.
That would 'blow me down' wink

*He scored QUINTET for Robert Altman the year before, his only (other) known film score credit.

YES! YES! YES! I know it's obscure as all get out. Red Earth Records HM 1001
It's pure '70's revenge flick coolness! Very low budget with lot's of dark synth moves and a small group of players, much like David Shire's "Taking of the Pelham 123".

Transformers 3: Dark Of The Moon - Steve Jablonsky

Would think the Transformers films would be LLL territory with their having released the fourth one, Age of Extinction.

But if not, I'd like to voice a big interest in complete releases for Transformers (2007) and Revenge of the Fallen (2009) as well.

I think it was mentioned that the rights for Transformers 3 were with another label, and if they didn't want to release it on CD, no-one else could either. But no harm in asking just in case... and the download doesn't even seem to be listed on Amazon.
