This is the worst film I've seen by Sam Raimi (and yes, I've seen SPIDERMAN 3) Apart from one or two of his typical flourishes, it gives credence to the claim by all those 'other' directors about the generic, conveyer belt line of Marvel Superhero films and how they are (mass) produced. For the most part, I couldn't have told you if it was even directed by a human, such was the endless barrage of CGI FX that assaulted my senses. It was like sitting and observing someone playing a computer game for 2 hours, with barely any logic or coherence. Even Elfman's score battered the senses, which is pitched at 11 from the start and pretty much stays there for the duration (admittedly there are some great moments scattered within the score and I did love most of the sad/emotional moments...plus I really liked the 'musical notes' battle near the end). When the ending FINALLY!! rolls around, I was left incredulous by its outcome. IS THAT IT?? I thought, as it rendered the previous 2 hours completely pointless. It literally is one of those 'Oh, alright then' finales that beggars belief. Of course, none of this matters one jot, as these films make millions/billions regardless. And I was onboard with their previous 20+ film series that culminated with the double AVENGERS battle/outcome, so I'm not some comic book/Marvel hater. Now, I just feel they're going around in circles, dropping some lame cameos in that (hopefully) sends the audience berserk. My future watching this series is on very thin ice. Plus 1 on all these sentiments
