As of now, 11.5 days after its launch the Kickstarter stands at $35,130 with only $2,870 left to go. And it just hit an important milestone: its 404th backer — this is how many backers Dial M for Murder, a much more famous title, received at the end of its 30 day campaign… three years ago when we were living in far less uncertain times pre-pandemic.

DIAL M FOR MURDER may be a much more famous title as it is a Hitchcock film, but it certainly was and is not at all famous for its music. Therefore throughout all the years there was little to no request among soundtrack collectors for a re-recording of the complete score which just doesn´t play such an important part in this very theater-like and dialogue-ridden movie.
Add to all this the fact that of course nowadays there exist much more Goldsmith fanboys than there are ones for Tiomkin - above all on this or on the Intrada board. So a certain number of fans will buy any unreleased Goldsmith title if it comes their way. On the other hand, most soundtrack collectors will probaly only buy the big epic Tiomkin scores whereas for the smaller ones there may exist only a very small circle of fans.
And you also have to consider that without that unnamed final big supporter that Kickstarter campaign for DIAL M would probably have even failed to reach its goal.
