What's up with Universal Film Music Heritage;especially TWO MULES FOR SISTER SARA ? I like premiere releases. Can't afford endless recycling of scores that were issued before under the guise of improved sound or a few more minutes of music never issued before.

Maybe you don't like them or cant afford them but folks who purchased Superman just paid for 8 future projects.

A rather ironic comment Cody, as LLL just released a Goldsmith premiere and Two Mules for Sister Sarah will not be a premiere, but an improvement/expansion.

Maybe you consider TWO MULES FOR SISTER SARA and DAYS OF HEAVEN a legitimate release... I don't. Scores for TV shows don't interest me unless they are for a mini-series. I like full orchestral scores and that is rarely seen on TV productions. By the way " Mr. Perfect", in this particular case, SARA is spelled without an H. We were both disappointed to see Kritzerland 's Fox-box put into limbo. On that rare time we were on the same page.

Im actually quite opposite. I like tv score more than movies scores.
I like it a bit "simpler". Not too fond of huge orchestral stuff. There are exceptions of course wink

Unless the schedule has changed ‘The Diary of Anne Frank’ should still be coming from LLL and we have ‘The Cardinal’ from Kritzerland next month.

I am sure there will be other pleasant surprises before the end of the year.

Why exactly is the Legend CD reissue of the Kapp/MCA LP program of Two Mules for Sister Sara not legit, Cody? As far as I know they are not a bootleg label.

And your loss when it comes to TV scores...I haven’t heard Archer beyond the theme (enough to realize it’s probaly not your thing, I concede), but Jerry’s work on Dr. Kildare and Cain’s Hudred for example is every bit the equal of his feature film work.

How interesting how many people are pooing over the inclusion of the original OST where usually people are singing the praises of including it (hell just look at the Superman thread, don't think a single person has complained about it increasing the cost there).

I don't think that many people are pooing over the 3rd TRL CD... the 4th CD is the "main problem".
I have personally no problem with inclusion of album programs if they were done creatively and are different enough from the "film score presentation" or at least they can be improved in terms of sound quality (no problem with the "old" TRL album and how many potential buyers don't have it already and have zero need for an upgrade?). The problem comes when something completely useless is added for some reason (licensing or otherwise) and increases the price of the set, shipping costs and also import fees for those who have to deal with them.

Obviously different albums have different production costs... if they were priced the same - it would mean that first 3 CDs of Thin Red Line has the same costs as 3CDs of Superman (35 USD) and all the difference in the prices of these two sets is caused by inclusion of the 4th TRL CD, then it is additional 25 USD for 4th CD that is completely useless and has 0 value for probably 90 % of people buying that set.

.

I could have "lived" with a 3cd version because Hans does great album versions of his scores; TRL included. I want those who never bought it to experience it. However, if they didn't buy the ost they surely didn't buy the chants cd (I did!).

Bottome line:

MY Preffered version = 2cd PURCHASED immediately
3cd - Might buy it but , will probably wait for sale of ten percent
4cd- Will wait till 25 precent sale

If LLL used more dynamic cover art like they do in Italy, noone would even notice the price.

Well MV, if all the people who bought your newly issued SUPERMAN CD allows you to do things like a Miklos Rozsa at Universal box-set or a full orchestral score from Universal's epic TV series CENTENNIAL composed by John Addison, then I wish you good fortune.

Love the first score but don't care for the second one so put off buying this (rather expensive) set for just one score. But I just had to have the JP expanded on CD so took the plunge when numbers were getting low.
