Yes, Hellboy is a fairly mediocre score. Whaaa?? I get you're just making a dig, but seriously Hellboy is one of the best from Jerry's protégé! There's no bigger Jerry nut than I, but even I would be more excited for a complete Hellboy before a complete Mr. Baseball. Just to be clear, I still want a complete Mr. Baseball. So get started on that Deluxe Edition, Varese. If you limit it to 1500 copies I'm sure it'll still sell out. It's Goldsmith. Yavar

If any label bothers with a Deluxe Edition Mr Baseball i will be long time dead. Focus - the big 4 are the JG scores to release. Thankfully we have two. So two to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wait, when did Varese release two of the following: The Haunting, Small Soldiers, L.A. Confidential or The 13 Warrior? Anyway, my copy arrived yesterday and I am listening to it now. This surely has to be one of Goldsmith's weakest scores of the 90's. In expanded form, it's quite a drag. The main theme is also one of Goldsmith's lesser ones, it sounds like a 90's Zimmer power anthem or the kind of theme Brian Tyler comes up with these days. If this is somebody's idea of a big Goldsmith title, what the hell is Small Soldiers or The 13th Warrior? A magnificent one? An epic one?

'All Aboard' is so much fun. I'll always remember the expression on my dad's (a huge Seagal fan) face directly after that scene. Jerry on autopilot is still miles better than most film music today.

That wonderful Varese release proofs how important a good editing is. I have the almost complete b*****g of that score and it really wasn`t a very enjoyable listenig experience. That wonderful Deluxe Edition on the other hand is such a fun listen since the cues have been put togeher so clever and smoothly that despite its lengthy running time it never gets boring. And the crisp sound with a lot of punch helps the music as well. Anyway another great Goldsmith 90s release by Varese.
