Is that a matter of interest, marketability, availability of tapes, clearance of rights,....?

Aside from artistic merits and personal preferences of the producers, I think it's also a matter of keeping the lights on.

Well, they've only quoted about 7 composers in that blurb and I imagine those titles will be stuff coming soon or soonish.
Hopefully some of the lesser released composer/titles will be added as the year progresses.
2 of the Goldsmith's might be Joel wink

And can it be to Fried's "Amok Time" fight music?

Lukas produced those gritty 60s and 70s scores when CD sales were booming (or solid at least) and I remember Lukas saying a lot of his releases might not get out the gate these days (with composers themselves maybe blocking them).
Things are different now, with rising costs, lower CD sales, people preferring digital options, to name but three potential obstacles.
LaLaLand have admitted they make more money from the 3rd or 4th go at a popular score/film over a below the radar release from a lesser known (or collected) composer.
The Golden Years may have passed, but the labels are still managing to get out those minor or hidden gems, amongst their latest re-re-reissue of a big selling soundtrack. They're just fewer and fewer nowadays.
As Yavar said, they know what sells and what will keep them in business.

I understand that this is a film music thread but I think fans of the tv/film work of Gil Melle, Oliver Nelson, and another composer prominent in the 70s--Patrick Williams--would find great joy in seeking out three non-film works:

Tome VI (Melle) on Verve LP from mid-sixties combined Melle's jazz quartet (Melle playing soprano sax) with a bank of electronic instruments. A wonderful hybrid of modern jazz with electronics.

The Blues and the Abstract Truth (Nelson) is available on CD and is considered a classic in jazz circles. "Stolen Moments" is a bona fide jazz standard.

American Concerto (Williams) on Columbia LP. Pulitzer Prize nominated work for small jazz group (with the great altoist Phil Woods!) and orchestra deserves a CD release, as does Tome VI.

With the limited reissues of Ivanhoe and Inchon from the end of last year, is there any chance we might get something similar for Jason and the Argonauts, which has been out of stock for a while now?

Is there any chance of THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY?

The soundtrack album was mostly period pop songs and only had a couple of tracks of the main themes from Minghella's score. I'm not even sure if they're from the film score, or if they're concert suites done for the album itself.

The vast majority of his gorgeous score has never been released.

My understanding is that it's a fully-Paramount film that Miramax merely got distribution rights to in a few overseas markets, in exchange for releasing Minghella from his contract there to direct it at Paramount. I don't think it's actually co-owned by Miramax.

It's one of my favorite scores of all time, it's such an internal score, expressing Ripley's psychology and perspective on the events we're watching onscreen.

I read an interview with THE LIVES OF OTHERS director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, where he said he actually wrote his film school thesis paper on this amazing score and that it was what caused him to go to Yared for THE LIVES OF OTHERS.

It would be a miracle to get the full score on CD. smile

Finally some light at the end of the tunnel!!!

Update from Doug on Flight of the Phoenix and MORE!!

2/21/2021

The Flight Of The Phoenix lands this coming Tuesday, February 23rd. Thanks to veteran composer Frank DeVol, the once-crashed aircraft flies again in a fully-restored 2-CD edition. They don’t write main titles like this anymore. Also in good fortune, clearance activity for several projects is finally getting back underway after the virus kept doors mostly closed for nearly a year. So pipeline projects may soon be once again emerging. In fact, our next release in a couple of weeks should prove to be a most welcome surprise for many fans. Stay tuned.

    Hopefully, and ironically, Shire's 2010.

    Roger,

Any chance of Horner's "We're Back! A Dinosaur Story" from Intrada? Another fine entry performed by the LSO that would be great to have on CD again!

Such a great soundtrack and contains one of Horner’s most beautiful soaring themes in “Flying Forward in Time”
