Yeah, I still plan to read it. Can you summarize a bit? Does the writer share exactly how many cues were composed, or roughly what the length of Mancini's score was before he stopped writing/recording? Mancini had recorded his complete FRENZY score with a duration of 27 minutes during two recording sessions in December 1971 - only an alternate beginning with 12 seconds of the "Main Title" wasn´t recorded anymore. Originally, three sessions had been planned and the author of the dissertation assumes that the third session - which was then cancelled - would have been "dedicated to corrections and intermittent polishing before the master recording was given to the sound mixing technicians for dubbing to the film." The Goodwin score on the other hand (without source music) has a duration of only 20 minutes. So forget about the idea that 3 CDs would be needed for the two FRENZY scores. This is just ridiculous. Both scores together have a duration of only about 50 minutes and would easily fit on a single CD!

The clue was for two releases and 3 cds. So the Frenzy score with two composers could be 1 or 2 cds. Of course I know about the clue. Certainly, you could put 27 minutes of Mancini on one CD and 20 minutes of Goodwin on a second CD if you really want to separate them. But then you won´t have any material for a third CD. So FRENZY is not at all the score in question for the upcoming Intrada release. And certainly also not TORN CURTAIN as only 15 minutes of Herrmann´s unused score had been recorded.

Unless one of the two Frenzy composers is also on the other release. Roger made up these clues based on the releases, so nothing is implausible. How should that be possible if all three discs will have score/scores from one and the same film by two composers? This was the original clue: "2 albums, 1 film, 2 composers, 3 discs." Much more likely is that it will be something from the 90s which formerly got at least one official release and will now be expanded.

If the clues are about music for the same movie by two composers (meaning one composer wrote the main bulk of score and another wrote additional cues, while both were used in the film) and not about a rejected score and a re-write score (Roger doesn't mention the word "rejected"). Then the first title that comes to my mind is MERCURY RISING (Barry wrote the main and Burwell the additional).This would be a dream come true, but I'm not sure if Varese doesn't have the rights.

I think a lot of you are ignoring the “two albums” part of Roger’s clue now. If a composer provided “additional music” it would have to be substantial enough (like probably over half an hour?), and independent enough (ie no use of the other composer’s themes) to warrant its own separate album. Last of the Mohicans *might* fit the bill for example, because the difference between Jones and Edelman on that is pretty vast, and Intrada might well believe the audiences for two separate albums would be largely distinct (people interested in an Edelman disc might not care about the Jones disc and vice versa… I’d be in the latter camp myself, honestly) Yavar
