Those Varese recordings are a mixed bag. To me, some really suffer from the limited time to perform them. Off the top of my head, Anthony Adverse and The Agony and the Ecstasy are two that are very frustrating because of performance issues. (I do feel that others are excellent.) Wasn't the Anthony Adverse recorded in the 1980s or very early 90s before Townson got there and started recording regularly in Seattle and Glasgow? Yes, John Scott conducting the Berlin Radio Symphony in June 1990. I was just getting to know Korngold, via the excellent Varese album of The Sea Hawk, and never understood the dislike for Anthony. I think it's a fine performance, thoughtfully produced in long suites.....no complaints from me. Wonderfully colorful music, beats the mono thin OST....which, uhm, we don't have anyway.....

No one cares about Horner. He’s always been a terrible composer.

Wow, Paul, just because you worked with Jerry Goldsmith and John Williams in the 60s and 70s doesn't mean you can trash all over James Horner in this thread. And aren't you dead?

No one cares about Horner. Factually incorrect. Multiple film music specialty labels have stated that Goldsmith, Williams, and Horner are consistently the best selling composers, and that there’s a substantial break, in terms of sales, by the time you get down the list to everyone else (including the likes of Herrmann, Rozsa, Elfman, Poledouris) unless it’s attached to some major title. He’s always been a terrible composer. That’s just like your opinion, man. Yavar

I have lived here WAY to long not to spot our rascally ol "Hunter From The Future", surprised you all haven't caught on yet..... Quite a LUX-ury, posting here innit? Dunno if it’s Lux, but it’s not YOR — Yor made multiple posts over the years praising Horner, and his writing was quite different https://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?pageID=1&forumID=1&threadID=94812&archive=0 Someone who counts a Horner score (from the precise same era as these two scores, no less) among their top 10 favorite scores of all time would not have come back to this forum just to shit on this thread and this worthy endeavor. No one cares about Horner. He’s always been a terrible composer. I don’t care if I get banned but someone has to say it… you’re an asshole! -Erik- Whoever it is (and it's not Lux/Yor, that's not at all his tone of voice), it's obviously a troll.

I was accused of trollery earlier in this thread and have decided to treat it as an honor. It took over twenty-five years but HELL-O Latham Conger III, pluto, D2 (on second thought…eh) and Andre, welcome this overaged rookie to the Dark Side yeh Heh HEH! I can read the words, but what do they mean.

The kickstarter hasn't even reached a tenth of what's needed to make this insane vanity product happen. Delusions of grandeur?

The kickstarter hasn't even reached a tenth of what's needed to make this insane vanity product happen. Delusions of grandeur? Maybe, but you’re suffering from delusions of a math education. It passed a tenth of the way there over a week ago. A tenth of goal is $12,890, and it’s at $13,480 right now. I really suspect if it had had a more reasonable goal, it would be a much higher number pledged right now. Yavar

The approach was so wrong-headed from the start and that really started it off on the wrong foot. You cannot rush into these things - they really have to be thought out, analyzed, and then you have to be appealing (as in making people excited) right out of the gate. If you falter at step one you never EVER recover.
