I will never understand this vinyl stuff - the score was recorded DIGITALLY. Vinyl has no point in this. It is not much more complicated than I like to collect soundtracks. I've been collecting and listening to film score soundtracks (and so many other genres of music) for three decades of my life. I've collected thousands of CDs; I've illegally pirated digital music; I've respectfully purchased digital music; I've subscribed to music streaming services; I've purchased hundreds of vinyls. There is nothing precious about it, but vinyl is what I prefer to collect in this day because of the large format album artwork, and the joy of putting something on and dedicated my listening time towards that. It is my subjective experience. A vinyl is as much a valid copy of a piece of music as a CD, as a digital file, et al. I think you're missing my point, which is there is zero advantage, sound-wise, to an analogue LP release of a digitally recorded score.

CD release has been delayed. Thursday, January 12, 2023 In which country? CDs don't come out on Thursdays in the US.

I just got an email from Amazon USA where I purchased mine, and it says the release date is Friday Dec. 16, 2022. It was originally Nov. 11, 2022. I guess we'll see. The original release date for the CD was Dec 9, it's just a one-week delay to Dec 16. Nov 11 was the date of the digital release, tied to the limited theatrical release in NY and LA that day.

Incidentally, when the CD release was delayed from Dec 9 to Dec 16, Amazon also adjusted my expected delivery date to January 9. That said, those dates are often wildly off the mark. Supply chains are still a total mess, in particular the pressing plants. Amazon has routinely been giving expected delivery dates for CDs and Blu-Rays recently that are far in the future, but then has often still shipped them with release date arrival, or within a few days of that.

Temperature check for FSMers: Why do so many people insist on "yucking people's yums?" Does anyone see me questioning why people choose to listen to music digitally or on a CD? Or belittling a format that someone might prefer? No. Respect your lanes. This used to be a community of like-minded collectors that appreciated each other because of our shared passion. Now that passion is gate kept here by people who insist they know better. This score was recorded by people on a soundstage so based upon some people's context of "how to listen to this the right way" the actual right way to be there with them on stage. Who has access to that? Let people listen to the music they purchase they way they choose to do that. Let me try to explain it to you in a way you'll hopefully understand. This is called a DISCUSSION BOARD. People discuss. People question things because they like to understand them. That's the way it works. I asked a very simple general question about what benefit there is to an LP release of a digitally recorded score. And from that you go one these rants while never actually addressing that specific point of discussion on a discussion board. And when I said I thought you'd missed the point of what I was saying, which you did, you rant more, using pithy phrases like "yucking people's yums." You could, for example, have said, I don't care about the sound, I just like collecting LPs - it's not about the sound. That would have been a fine response and frankly would have ended the discussion. No one here insisted they knew better, especially me, since all your comments are directed in my direction. You don't care to understand a simple point and I don't care that you don't care that I don't care. I certainly didn't yuck your yums - I wouldn't go anywhere near your yums, whatever they may be and please don't tell me. Thank you for your time, and feel free to continue to rant away.

However, you are expecting way too much from your interlocutor. Still, kudos for treating fellow members both with respect AND as adults.

The uncomfortable thing is, here, most people feel entitled to "win" a discussion. That's actually not a discussion. I've sparred with Bruce K. many a time here in my tenure and I'm never sure why. We're both assholes is all I can assume. I was certainly not the one "trying to win" anything. You were the one doing that. As to whether we're BOTH assholes, well, I don't really know you so would never make a comment like that.
