You can buy it directly and even choose if you prefer MP3 or FLAC. Nothing simpler than that... so what exactly is supposed to be the problem here?
I assume what Martin B. is wondering is that, contrary to the previous backers goodies, Vol. 5 isn't offered to them as a download link (Like it was for the previous volumes)
Presumably Leigh himself gets most if not all the $$ for stuff purchased through his website… plus if one does that, a full liner notes booklet for each volume comes with the lossless (or MP3 if preferred) files, for only £4 per “EP”… I don’t think those other stores necessarily even provide liner notes.
I agree with Petr/Lokutus: if you want to support Leigh and more of these coming out as much as possible, that sure seems like the best (and only necessary) option.
For those who don’t know: Leigh’s really not making any profit off of these. In fact I don’t think he’s even been factoring a fee for himself, into the costs. He recorded this 5th EP entirely with extra funds raised from the first two Kickstarter campaigns, and it still wasn’t quite enough so he actually put in I think £100 or more of his own into it, so there would be enough for this added session to happen. He gave copies of the written music as well as free virtual attendance to the sessions to *all* previous backers (plus those of The Jerry Goldsmith Companion KS) for free, things that were only even available at higher tiers before. £4 seems a paltry sum to ask for the lossless files (+liner notes) of a gorgeous complete Goldsmith TV score.

But how is this “contrary” to what was done for previous volumes, steffromuk? Those had a minimum tier charge of £3 per score. This volume didn’t *have* an associated KS campaign so it’s £4 for the score in lossless from Leigh’s website, just like it was for non-backers of the other scores to purchase them later on his website. I guess this means an increase of £1 compared to what lowest tier backers paid before, but that hardly seems an issue. And there’s one more KS campaign coming up soon where backers will have an opportunity at that price break again, vs. what the EP cost will be for direct purchase later.

My wording was clumsy. I apologise for this. And I gladly bought and downloaded it.
Also there seems to be a bug with my KS account, as I never receive any notification in my emails despite them being active in my KS settings.
It's really annoying cause I missed several events due to this.
All this to say that having not checked my KS page for a while, I got slightly confused with all the Volume numbers, and at first I was wondering if I had missed the campaign for Vol. 5
Wonderful new addition to Leigh’s glorious Goldsmith GFE series. Such a delightful JG melody and always love JG in melancholy mode. We are so lucky to have some so talented as Leigh with his musical abilities combined with his passion for JG. Thank you!
Just bumping this to mention how much I've been enjoying this short, sensitive Goldsmith gem. It's really a miracle that we have such a lovely recording of a score for a television episode that appears to be lost (Yavar's liner notes mention it might exist at the Reagan Library). Kudos to Leigh Phillips and all who made this happen! Can't wait for the next one!

Thanks Schiffy, it's good to hear you're enjoying the latest release.
The new (and final) campaign should be launching on Oct 12 (natural disasters notwithstanding!). In the meantime, I've put together a brief compilation which quickly demonstrates the range of material we've captured over the last 12 months. These scores really are something of a mini revelation.

No need to apologize my friend; I was just trying to understand what you meant.

Odd. I assume you checked your email junk filter?

Yeah, that's understandable. Thanks to you (and others) expressing that confusion, Leigh has added some clarification to the language on his upcoming final GE Theater Kickstarter.
Schiffy and GoldDigger, so glad you're enjoying this one!
From the AP in 2010: "All 208 episodes of television’s “General Electric Theater,” hosted by then-actor Ronald Reagan, are being delivered to former first lady Nancy Reagan on Wednesday as part of the two-year celebration of the late president’s 100th birthday.
The 1954-1962 “General Electric Theater” tapes, most believed to be damaged or lost, were recently uncovered in the General Electric/NBC Universal archives. They were restored to broadcast quality for use in the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California."
And there's additional confusion because (even though Reagan didn't start out as host initially, which could account for a bit of discrepancy) IMDb and other sources claim the series had over 300 episodes in its 10 season run.
But maybe this just means somebody at the library needs to get on the ball in cataloguing. Might anyone in the vicinity of Simi Valley be up for going there in person and doing more research on the subject?
Now that folks have had a little while to get to know "The Last Dance", I'm wondering how all of you would rank the five scores that have been recorded to date, in advance of the final campaign launching later this month.
I like them all, but for me I think it's:
1. The Bar Mitzvah of Major Orlovsky 2. The Last Dance 3. Hitler's Secret 4. Sarah's Laughter 5. The Legend That Walks Like a Man

1. Sarah's Laughter 2. The Last Dance 3. ...Orlovsky 4. Hitler's Secret 5. The Legend That...
Just reposting the link to the pre-launch page (as it's disappearing up the thread). It's supposed to go live on Oct 12 but, seeing that the campaign is ready, it doesn't seem like there's good reason to hold off...so it'll likely be activated this coming Friday.
1. Sarah's Laughter 2. The Last Dance 3. ...Orlovsky 4. Hitler's Secret 5. The Legend That...
Oh wow! Did Hitler's Secret grow in your estimation Leigh? When we recorded the podcast with you about it and Legend That Walks, I thought I remembered you saying you enjoyed the latter more. So I'm surprised to see it at the very bottom of your list, same as mine! (I think we both still agree it treated that theme better than its subsequent re-use in Take Her, She's Mine.)
I'm also kinda surprised to find Orlovsky in the middle of your list, since it was the original thing you loved so much that you started on this venture in the first place... but cool that two scores we only got in written form ended up at the top of your list!
Lokutus, do you have a ranking you could share by any chance? Or are you uninterested in that?
I haven't really tried to put them in any particular order. I suppose The Last Dance might be near the top of my list if not nr. 1 but hard to say as that one is still fresh in my memory.
In order to move through new arrivals and some older titles on my pile of CDs to play I came up with (in retrospect) rather stupid idea to select bunch of CDs to play and don't add any new titles until it is finished. The last selection I made on December 20th and I had hoped it won't take me more than 1-2 months to get through... Well... 9+ months later and I am barely 1/4 through it. I haven't thererefore even played Intrada's Faculty yet... it's not even anywhere near my scores to play... I guess I'll have to reconsider that strategy although it used to work for a while...
***********
But back to GET... skipping through them right now my list would be probably something like this:
1) Bar Mitzvah 2) The Last Dance 3) Hitler's Secret 4) Sarah's Laughter 5) Legend That Walks...
