Found a copy of the UK PAL DVD of Last Of the Mohicans (original theatrical version) at Amoeba for $1 buck.
It has Trevor Jones score on an isolated 5.1 track.

AND THAT EXCITES YOU, HUH?
Yeah, it kinda does.
I cranked up my stereo during that whole final dialogue-less chase sequence. Jones's "Promentory" music is fantastic, and you get to hear it in it's full glory.
I recently found the Varese Stanley & Iris by John Williams at my local Value Village. Three dollars... what kind of idiot would NOT pick it up at that price?!
I have only recently starting collecting scores, but I did pick up The Land Before Time for a buck. I have just now come to find that it is a pretty tough one to get a hold of.
I picked up Free Willy, The Sound of Music and The Untouchables for $10. There is a going out of business sell at a FYE store and the cd's are 50% new or used.
I was just in NYC and found some pretty good scores
Young Billy Young by Shelly Manne for 3 bucks Film Music by Mark Isham Live for Life by Francis Lai and The Reivers by John Williams for 1 dollar each (wish I had picked up those copies of The Last Run by Goldsmith and Rider on the Rain by Lai)
also in the past I've found great records like The Grasshopper by Billy Goldenberg and Patton by Goldsmith for super cheap (usually a dollar or two)

For those of you that have an f.y.e. store in your area, if you buy one used cd in their soundtrack section, provided the price is the same or less, you get the next used cd for $1.00.
Just bought
Georges Delerue The London Sessions volume three (Varese) $7.99
Also purchased from the used bin at f.y.e. recently.
NEW YORK: A Documentary Film by Ric Burns (RCA Victor) Score by Brian Keane, performances by Count Basie, Duke Ellington, George Gershwin and Cole Porter. $11.99.
Fabulous stuff.
I see SAE has 1 copy available (drilled) for only $9.95
here in Manhattan at the 49W 45th street on 6th Avenue discovered a used cd and book store (Book Off) with a great soundtracks section and got the following at $7.00 each:
TAXI DRIVER- Herrmann BACK TO TITANIC- Horner LAURA/BAD & THE BEAUTIFUL- Raksin/ Gerhardt A VIEW TO A KILL- Barry (Remastered) GREAT FILM FANTASIES- Kunzel (sealed) STAR WARS- SHADOWS OF THE EMPIRE- Joel Mcneely JARRE BY JARRE- Maurice Jarre ($1)
Amer
Good deal on JARRE BY JARRE. You can never lose by only spending $1.00
I personally don't like the music of Maurice Jarre, but that album overall is very good and is worth it if only for the "Building the Barn" cue from WITNESS wonderfully performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
some OOP Vareses for $6.99: Delerue - MAN TROUBLE Jarre - NO WAY OUT Newman/Jankel - DESPERATELY SEEKING SUSAN/MAKING MR. RIGHT
Poledouris - BLUE LAGOON $11.99 (Didn't know this was OOP, bought it and looked it up - none of the major score retailers has it available anymore) Howard - THE POSTMAN $4.99 (but opened it at home and all the inserts were water damaged )
OOP remastered Bonds for $4.99: MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN OCTOPUSSY
Overall a nice, affordable haul of stuff I didn't have.

Some good ones there.
It's fun still having a store that stocks a lot of used stuff in the bins.
Unless the staff knows exactly what they have (and usually they don't now) you can still find quite a few bargains.

These f.y.e. stores combine new and used stuff in their bins which seems strange but it is fun to see something at $17.99 and then find something right behind it that you are interested in for $4.99.
You can walk out of that place sometimes with a stack of stuff while only spending $20.00.
Not sure how long this chain will be around, but enjoy it while it lasts folks.
