Man, that Easter Bunny will be waiting forever, since it's unlikely he'll get those CD's at all.
Humor. It is a difficult concept. Yes, it is; so you have exemplified.

Simple Solution to the entire issue Just toss the whole thing in ITUNES, switch the alternate version with the one that has whatever issue there is and the problem is solved... Given that this project was done in a rush some 22 years ago and they seemed to have found most of the elements in good shape, one track have some fairly minor issues isn't surprising, that's life. But you take my suggestion or keep bitching and moaning among yourselves. Chas Ferry is a really good mastering Engineer who I have worked with every now and again and he knows what he's going and makes the best of what is given to him and this master was no doubt approved by The higher ups at VARESE and I strongly suspect by Joel McNeely himself. My advice is enjoy the CD you have (with that little running order change in ITUNES) and relax and have a good weekend. Ford A. Thaxton

Chas Ferry...care to explain? He doesn't own you or anyone else (beyond the folks who employ him) anything, PERIOD. Ford A. Thaxton

What is this about replacements disc ? Well there appears to be an error on one of the tracks. And Varese never fails to put their customers first and address such errors, so replacements are expected within days. Hours even! True. Why would you think otherwise?

FORD: Chas Ferry is a really good mastering Engineer who I have worked with every now and again and he knows what he's going and makes the best of what is given to him and this master was no doubt approved by The higher ups at VARESE and I strongly suspect by Joel McNeely himself Every aspect of the above by Mr. Thaxton wholly restores & ensures my faith in this project. I am absolutely sold, satisfied & grateful we little people have been put right. Like Hal Holbrook's beleaguered & lost character in CREEPSHOW, "Oh, Ford...what would we do without you?" Grateful & humbled for the humbling, I will buy 4 copies of this perfect creation just to remind myself what a fool I have been. Thank you, Ford, thank you. Ah, so you wish to stay in the "keep bitching and moaning" Category..... Oh well.... Ford A. Thaxton

Ford, as a producer, your poor quality standards and lack of commitment to keeping your small but incredibly loyal customer base happy are, ummmm, extraordinary.. Bitch,Moan,Bitch,Moan..... You sir seem to have missed the point (Yet Again) The Bottomline is that this release is god damned good, one track has a slight sonic issue. So they had a choice, include it or drop it? which one would you have chosen? Because at the end of the day, everyone at VARESE and I STRONGLY SUSPECT that Joel McNeely as well signed off on it. they are the ones who spent the time and effort to produce this release and to be honest one track with a slight issue really doesn't detract from the rest of the package. I've heard vastly worse on other releases from this label and others that don't seem to upset you or others. This title was released because it was the most sought after by Varese customers. "It was a quick recording, made 22 years ago, get over it" is unacceptable when the b*** does not have the same issue! It should at least be investigated. Bitch,Moan,Bitch,Moan...... And who are you too say it wasn't "investigated" in the first place? I'm certain that VARESE hunted down the best elements that were available and if you look at the credits (Assuming you have even heard the album in the first place) you'd find the original recording engineer was involved in the production as well. As for the bootleg..... Well you answered your own question, as a rule I"m told that VARESE has a policy against using any bootleg as a master source for their releases, I would also dare say the studio would also not wish them to use a bootleg as master source on their release as well. So you can now return to your bitching and moaning which you are so happy to do. I on the other hand am going to play this release and be happy that we have it out along with ROOSTER COGBURN. It's a vastly more pleasant way to spend one's weekend. Ford A; Thaxton

Yeah. Just look at La La Land Records. Re-did a whole CD because of missing mixing bowls in one or two tracks. They didn't take the Varese option of simply dropping it "as is". And it doesn't stop there. Just look at Intrada Records. Re-did "Judge Dredd" because they accidentally included the re-recording of Goldsmith's trailer music. They didn't take the Varese option of simply dropping it "as is". Probably others I can't recall off hand. Only this new-ownership Varese seems to think this is the way to go. I guess I'll just wait until it sells out and some other label re-issues it. I shouldn't have to pay for something only to have to pull a track fro ma bootleg to make it right.

As for the bootleg..... Well you answered your own question, as a rule I"m told that VARESE has a policy against using any bootleg as a master source for their releases, I would also dare sa Fair enough, but wouldn't then the source used for the boot be fine? Why would that be a different source? No real dog in this race, I am fine with how the track sounds. Just askin'.
