There seems to be 16 left rather than 6 at Intrada.

SAE doesn't seem to have it in stock anymore.

But I'm not worried - I'll be getting this release in a trade. big grin

'tis a goner at Intrada and SAE!

Funny that Predator - already released by Varese - sold out within a day yet The Deep - unreleased - took two weeks.

Probably because it was $29.99, but STILL, 2 weeks and it's gone? I saw this post after getting off of work and rushed to Moviemusic. I added Nightflyers and The Formula - the slightly raise price of the Varese CDs is counterbalanced by the awesome $1 shipping! Glad I got these before they are gone. smile

Steve love Gummy Bears and CDs!

Gone in a month. Nice to see that John Barry albums can sell out almost as fast as anyone elses. (also remember 'Until September'!!).

It still sold out more quickly than most other 1000-1500 releases.

I found THE DEEP too shallow as a listening experience. Seriously, the score fucntioned well in the film but as a stand alone, it is slow and repetitive. Perhaps Barry was trying to simulate the undulating currents with chords that washed to and fro, but I found it a chore to sit through.

Totally agreed, a total bore as a listening experience. I preferred the LP arrangement.

While I don't find it boring, I'm in agreement about the lp.

Well, different people will have different views and tastes, but for me, I think it's one of the most absorbing, hypnotic listens I've bought in a long time. And I far prefer the OST to the album suite.

Cheers

It's a lush, densely textured score and lovely to have. Don't get me wrong, I do like it and I'm listening to it now. That old lp is just very good. The OST is heads above contemporary scoring.

I haven't heard most of the score yet, but I bought this album based on the main theme alone, and its different arrangements on the LP presentation. The theme is mesmerizing!
