Never heard the score or watched the film, but the music is really good. How can you say that when you've never heard the score?

My order never arrived . Usps says it left Heathrow on the 16th, Royal mail says leaving US on 14th. Best of all, some tracking app says left LA, went to Warsaw, then to new York, then to London and lastly, so far, back to Miami!!!! Probably stuck in a snow drift.

My Conan has at least arrived in England now, but won't get delivered till next Wednesday at the earliest. That'll make it three weeks in transiit. It used to take one week between the US and UK, but unfortunately international shipping, as well as becoming painfully expensive, has gotten painfully slow too. All one can do is wait and be patient. I will wait patiently! Cheers

My Intrada box only arrived this week, Damian, 5 weeks after it was posted!! You've only got yourself to blame, Postman Pat. You're lucky there isn't a middle finger symbol. It's probably in the back of a lorry riding round the M25.

“He did not care any more… bass and treble: the same. Only that the audio files would be there to greet him with waveforms of peaks and valleys.”

Basil’s recycling on this was an absolute necessity, considering he was apparently given only a week to both write AND record the score. Yavar

Basil’s recycling on this was an absolute necessity, considering he was apparently given only a week to both write AND record the score. Yavar Wow! And I thought the 10 days Waxman had to write and record A Christmas Carol was absurd (granted, he had some help there, but still).

Man, I absolutely love "Chamber of Mirrors." This has to be one of my favorite Basil Poledouris cues. Agreed, this one gets repeat plays and I will even say I vastly prefer the re-recording to the original soundtrack recording ("Crystal Palace" on the LP). It's slower, which I usually don't like, but for this cue it works. And the recording quality is to die for.

Overall, I find myself liking Conan the Destroyer in its expanded form more than the Barbarian expansion actually. Barbarian drags a bit in the middle to me and is much more somber and regal whereas Destroyer has better pacing as a listening experience and is more adventurous and energetic. The Destroyer expansion is a better companion piece to the Varèse Barbarian than the Intrada…
