This week's suites.

"Code Name: Foxfire"
Composer: Jeff Sturges
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZTMxhMI2Vo

Second -- and currently finale -- suite for the show. The two suites cover three episodes (all that is available at this time).

"Missy's Men"
Composer: Lyn Murray
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxK9iJmZKV4

Suite of score covering a fairly obscure failed pilot. It's a delightful orchestral work I'm sure fans of older scoring will really enjoy and would also want to own on CD. Check out the IMDb page for more info' (I completed the cast and added select credits, a week or so ago).

RETRO SUITE:

I made these suites years ago.

"The Phoenix"
Composer: Arthur B. Rubinstein
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9rFrxcI5O0
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQ_8vCIVBhY

These suites cover the pilot episode.

An early heads up on next week's suites: a Jerry Fielding, and a Ron Jones. And a RETRO SUITE as usual.

As well as some notes on the shows I'll be doing for the rest of the year, and hints at what I will be handling next year.

You're right! This was quite charming. Probably too obscure to ever be released (most Jerry Goldsmith scores for failed pilots haven't even been released!), which is a shame.

Is the episode itself on YouTube or DailyMotion or something?

This week's suites.
A post later today will cover info' I previously stated I would give today.

"Class of '55"
Composer: Jerry Fielding
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wpIO-SkPFs

A failed pilot also guest starring Alan Alda. And by odd coincidence, shortly after his first scene begins, a girl calls him "hot lips".

"Future Hunters"
Composer: Ron Jones
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLzDlU4RhNY

Suite #1 (of two) covering this awful film Jones scored.

What the score sounds like is like he recorded a small part with orchestra, then did the rest with synth (which was a thing back then). And even then, the film edited up and tracked cues more than once into the film. I didn't do a full job, but I did a pretty damn good job finding cleaner parts and replacing over bad ones, for these suites. You no longer need watch fear the film (or the banana) -- just listen to the suites.

RETRO SUITE:

I made this suite years ago.

"E.A.R.T.H. Force"
Composer: Ken Harrison
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOQkAx5ef8g

This suite covers Ken's score to the pilot episode, which is presumably the only episode he scored of this awful series. What few composer credits you see on IMDb or the show, were provided by me for those small number of episodes available.

This post will be in three parts.

FIRST:
In September I will cover one show and some miscellaneous series.

Last year for October, I said I would do a couple of thrillers, and ended up doing two shows named "Thriller". This year for October: two shows, one character.

And for November think: cold and law.

SECOND:
Found out the "Cannon" episode "Scream of Silence" that I made a suite for, has the finale in the stadium, tracked with score from the prior episode "The Salinas Jackpot", so I can delete that from the flash drive. With that and one final go over, I should have room for maybe one more long suite. As I stands now, I have two more weeks of suites remaining. Next week will be one or two suites, then I'll do my final post with all the remaining suites, encompassing various styles of music, TV and film, composers new and old, and showcasing why I do what I do. I hope you all enjoy -- something for most fans in that post.

THIRD:
So, what shows will I be covering next year (time permitting)?

Well, I won't be doing a lot of shows next year; not because I am cutting back, but because I want to burn off the most of the hour-long long-running series I haven't covered yet. As I've stated repeatedly, I'm just tired of it tackling such shows, so apologies in advance -- but some such shows I am unlikely to ever do, such as "Highway to Heaven" and "Bonanza".

I intend to try and finish off "The Virginian" next year -- which is no small feet.

Loads permitting, I want to tackle both Indiana Jones series. Hopefully Intrada just simply beats me to it and starts releasing the full scores so I don't have to bother.

And finally, "Columbo".

Suites next week will be posted on Tuesday. Another "J. J. Starbuck" suites and one undecided at the moment. And a RETRO SUITE.

I have sent off an e-mail to Lukas on whether it's too soon to fund for another flash drive. If I get the A-OK from him, I'll come back here and tell you some shows I want to cover, a special project I want to handle, and at such time I will take suggestions for titles to make suites of.

I've gotten the A-OK from Lukas to fund for a new second flash drive.

Here are some of the things I plan to do with the new flash drive:
  • More suites from Morton Stevens and Mike Post/Pete Carpenter, as usual. I'm making up for decades of no releases here.

  • With a new drive, instead of considering based upon comments here, I'll stead DO the entire short run of "240-Robert", a I'll probably start covering late September in a new thread.

  • A Laurence Rosenthal-scored TV movie.

  • At least one suite for every show I have a thread for. And I want a suite covering every contributing composer to "Banacek".

  • When I did "The Red Hand Gang", I went threw the show and found cleaner parts of cues and tried to salvage every cue I could in the best presentation possible. I want to do this again for another short-lived TV series. I'll keep the title secret, but it is a composer I have not previously made a suite for (but there is a thread for the show, by me).

  • And yes -- now that I would have room, I'll be taking suggestions.

Now, even if funding was met tomorrow, I wont' be tackling new suites until next year. I'm taking the remainder of the year off from that.

    This week's suites.

    "J. J. Starbuck"
    Composer: Velton Ray Bunch
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDt2Bsap0Do

Suite #1. The only suite possible for him at this time.

    "Lawless"
    Composer: Jim Jacobsen
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUrYFXRMIwU

I know what you're thinking: I've never heard of this show before. Well, there's good reason.

"Lawless" is like a poor man's action show, patched together with "Miami Vice", "Nash Bridges", and others, coming out the other end one pathetic sausage.

Picked up for a series, thirteen episodes were in various stages of filming and production when the networked changed it's mind. The pilot was so rushed to get finished in time for airing that not even any of the producers/directors I talked to through e-mail, were even aware it aired -- they thought it wasn't even finished.

In one final bid to axe it, they moved it one day off it's premiere day, just to throw the audience off apparently.

As best I can tell, no other episodes made it out of production, and therefore this is the only completed episode.

Taking over for Joel Goldsmith who was originally hired to score the pilot, composer Jim Jacobsen has few credits to his name.

This is more a point of curiosity, don't consider this anything special.

Back in the day when Joel's website was up (the now defunct FreeClyde.com), he had a demo for a rejected theme for the show, but as the site was flash, the Archive.org page cannot play any of the samples from his old website. I have no clue if he did any further score for the pilot. I e-mailed one or two people who worked with him at the time, and none of them seemed to know anything.

    RETRO SUITE:

I made this suite years ago.

    "Swiss Family Robinson"
    Composer: Arthur Morton
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Vd56Bek5E4

Suite of score from presumably the only episode of this 1975 live-action series. I did what I could with episodes loads, for IMDb credits. This particular episode was "Man O' War".

My final batch of suites for Monday will have seven suites. Eight if I can get Ron Burbella to reply back to me via e-mail today in a timely manner.

    The final batch of suites.

As I only have a little over 200 MB left on the flash drive and Ron Burbella never replied to me, I only have this final batch. If Ron does and all goes well, I can have one more batch with two suites (one only requires me to save the video, not the music).

    "Aaron's Way"
    Composer: Mark Snow
    https://youtube.com/watch?v=PlOVPoykn30

Suite #1 (the only suite I could make) covers most of the score from the feature-length pilot, including a commercial bumper piece.

The pilot is the only episode available, so even if I had more flash drive room, I couldn't do any further episodes.

    "The Colbys"
    Composer: Dennis McCarthy
    https://youtube.com/watch?v=26zR3oZkUPA

Suite #1 (the only suite I have room for) cover two or three episodes McCarthy scored.

    Dark Victory
    Composer: Billy Goldenberg
    https://youtube.com/watch?v=JMl88FuNYpc

Suite #2 -- the final suite covering his score.

    Future Hunters
    Composer: Ron Jones
    https://youtube.com/watch?v=etaizHxGEds

Suite #2 -- the final suite covering this awful film.

    "Hart to Hart"
    Composer: Mark Snow
    https://youtube.com/watch?v=Gs1_sNjMvKQ

Suite #1 (the only one I have room for) covering the feature-length pilot.

    "J. J. Starbuck"
    Composer: Mike Post
    https://youtube.com/watch?v=Gl6zSX5uXNw

Suite #2, the final suite I have, for Post. Since I did this suite, the pilot episode has popped up, so if I can get a new flash drive, I'll do the pilot as well.

    Sunrise at Campobello
    Composer: Franz Waxman
    https://youtube.com/watch?v=JO5G4mBd-04

I consider this a companion suite. Why? While Fred Steiner is supposed to have re-recorded cues which you can hear in this suite:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJw-z9Pb5TA

Comparing them against the film, I'd swear Fred pulled a fast one and simply put out the original tracks. That did happen once before is score-releasing history, so it's possible.

Well, that's all she wrote. I hope you all enjoy.
At this time there are no bites on the funding.

I am no longer seeking funding. I will have enough space to last years, probably even over five.

I hope mid to late January to post a new batch of suites that will include (and probably not be limited to): Morton Stevens, Mike Post & Pete Carpenter, and Laurence Rosenthal.

Many thanks to MRAUDIO for making this possible. :-)

Another project I am working on: the library music of "Johnny Dollar" during Bob Bailey's run. When I did "The Red Hand Gang", I went through the entire show and tried to took cues and found cleaner parts tracked, and pasted them over to come up with the most SFX free cues I could, well, I am doing the same for some library cues.

It'll be a couple years in the making, but there will be some serious joy for fans like myself.

    :-)

Today's accidental suite -- because I made this for the final batch but somehow missed it and only now have I caught my mistake. And I saved it for some reason in 32-bit, which means I've re-saved it to 16-bit, which has gained about another 150 MB on the old flash drive. Man, I'll have to see what I can make with that.

    "Vengeance Unlimited"
    Composer: Mark Morgan
    https://youtube.com/watch?v=_mGbASEtjV8

Suite #1 -- the only suite I made -- covering the first few episodes.
