Here ya go Kev — should be shipping soon: https://mondoshop.com/products/the-lord-of-the-rings-the-rings-of-power-season-one-original-soundtrack-2xcd But you might want to hold out for the 8CD set. That said, the Season One set has a lot of good exclusive tracks which weren’t composed to picture. Yavar Yavar, The CD is already shipping. My copy arrived this afternoon, but then I ordered it as soon as I heard It was listed on the Mondo site, two months ago! Cheers, Bob Elliott Can you provide a track listing of the CD set, complete with track duration? (a photo of the back tray or booklet page with the contents would do just as fine, as well)

If - IF - Rings Of Power has a dearth of theatrical dialogue reflective of Tolkien's writing, perhaps the Tolkien Estate should have re-thought not licensing and thereby allowing access to the Silmarillion works. To Tolkien's writing. Not saying it does - I have not seen it... yet - I'm just tossing it out there. (Although, perhaps the Silmarillion does not possess such, as an apparently loose collection of yarns written in different styles? source=wikipedia) The Silmarillion is basically the "Middle Earth Handbook", it is a collection of tales and ideas and myths the characters in the "later" stories (Hobbit and Lord of the Rings) refer to, believe in, or sprang from. It was never meant to be a standalone work. Tolkien spend years and years, meticulously figuring out who the cultures and folks of Middle Earth were, where they came from, how they lived, what they believed in, etc., and the Silmarillion is a collection of all these tales and myths. Tolkien's Middle Earth is constructed "in depth", and not just a run-of-the-mill fantasy land where you make it up as you go.

I'd recommend those videos, btw. Given the variety (?) of writ therein, if there are not some moments of dramatic dialogue to draw upon, then perhaps the context of critics' complaints needs a bit of tempering. Just a bit. That is the spirit of my ponderance, I suppose. Speaking of Nerd Of The Rings, I recommend the fascinating video on Tolkien's post-LOTR story bit. Intriguing. I understand his reasoning for not following through, yet another epic tale there would have been interesting.

As someone who doesn't care for the series but likes Mr. Mc - is the double disc going to be readily available?

The photo needs to be hosted somewhere else, you can then use the square brackets with "i". The special codes on this forum and how to use them are listed here: https://filmscoremonthly.com/board/specials.cfm (You will also find the link "Special Code Legend" when you are in edit/post mode on the forum.)

Well said, Mr. Mc. I haven't settled my opinion on the season overall yet. It was compelling enough to keep me watching, but there are elements that definitely don't hold up upon further reflection, and I'm not steeped in Tolkien lore. The score, though, is an absolute masterpiece. McCreary's catalogue of themes is mithril-solid and Balrog-deep, and it's no exaggeration to say that a lesser score would have dampened my enthusiasm for the show. (That certainly happened with OBI-WAN.) He has masterfully extended Shore's leitmotivic approach, and if his catalogue isn't quite as deep or nuanced as Shore's (at least, not yet), it's every bit as emotionally involving and fun to listen to. This score is the one to beat this year.
