Do we know what was wrong with the original Karate Kid 2 pressing?

I’d like to know also, as I still don’t know if I have the good one or not. I emailed LLL to try to know what was the issue to check my Cd but no answer.

They're closed for the holidays. I don't imagine you'll get a reply until they re-open after the new year.

I know they’re closed at the moment, but I sent the email more than a month ago. In any case, do anybody knows what was the issue with the original pressing or if comparing the original CD and the repressing there is any visual difference (like different serial number or any other thing)?

The main title was clipped by about 17 frames (less than one second).

Anyone wanna challenge LLL on customer service?

If you flip the disc over and look at the inner ring, it says KARATE KID 2 REVISED

Thanks Neil and Jeff!
Then it is really a minor issue and even if I got the first pressing (inner ring reads "KARATE KID II") I could not perceive the cut/clipping in the Main Title, so I’ll keep mine as is.

Thank you for this! Definitely saving this for future use! LOL

Checked mine and I have the one labeled "Revised". I agree though...I wouldn't even have realized that particular issue existed. Kudos to LLL for going to the trouble and expense of correcting such a minor slip!

Maaaaaybe it's not too early to ask this, so here goes!

Since every LLLCD number ending in 89 usually has something to do with Batman, is it likely that this tradition will continue with 1589? smile

Asking even though 1489 is not yet out - I hope that's OK.

I'd LOVE for Neil's improved Batman program released on Mondo vinyl, to be released on the CD format as well.

I'd LOVE for Neil's improved Batman program released on Mondo vinyl, to be released on the CD format as well.

What is improved? One thing that irked me on the Elfman Batman Collection release was the actual Main Title film version is not there. The film version was on the first Batman LLL release, but it had clipping. So they totally left it off on the Elfman collection release. Even if there is clipping, they should have still left it.

Well, this is the tracklist of the Mondo version

01. Main title (2:49)
02. Family / First Batman / Roof Fight (3:24)
03. Jack Vs. Eckhardt (1:36)
04. Up Building / Card Snap (1:54)
05. Bat Zone / Axis Set-Up (1:52)
06. Shootout (5:39)
07. Dinner Transition / Kitchen Dinner** / Surgery (2:58)
08. Stair Kiss** / Face-Off / Beddy Bye (4:00)
09. Board Meeting (0:20)
10. Roasted Dude (1:04)
11. Vicki Spies (Flowers) (1:55)
12. Clown Attack (1:58)
13. Bruce Contemplates / Photos* / Men At Work (2:59)
14. Paper Spin / Alicia’s Mask (0:31)
15. Vicki Gets A Gift (1:12)
16. Alicia’s Unmasking (1:10)
17. Batman To the Rescue / Batmobile Charge / Street Fight (4:25)
18. Vicki Hides The Film (0:35)
19. Descent Into Mystery (1:34)
20. Batcave / Paper Throw (2:49)
21. The Truth (1:14)
22. The Joker’s Poem (0:59)
23. Sad Pictures (0:39)
24. Dream / Challenge / Tender Batcave** (4:28)
25. Charge of the Batmobile (1:47)
26. Joker Flies to Gotham / Batwing I (0:34)
27. Batwing II (4:00)
28. Batwing III (2:07)
29. Cathedral Chase (5:06)
30. Waltz to the Death (3:59)
31. Showdown I / Showdown II (5:06)
32. Finale* **(1:49)
33. End Credits (1:29)

There are numerous differences between it and the 2014 LLL edition

  • 09. Board Meeting (0:20) is a brand new, previously unreleased cue
  • 18. Vicki Hides The Film (0:35) is a brand new, previously unreleased cue
  • "The Truth" previously released under a different title ("Joker's Muzak") is now integrated into the main program where it belongs (21. The Truth (1:14))
  • "Batwing II" and "Batwing III" are no longer crossfaded together and are now separate tracks. (27. Batwing II (4:00) and 28. Batwing III (2:07)
  • What used to be 12 Photos*/Beautiful Dreamer*† 2:30 and 13 Men at Work* 0:33 is now 13. Bruce Contemplates / Photos* / Men At Work (2:59)
  • What used to be 8 Face–Off*•/Beddy Bye* 3:59 is now 08. Stair Kiss** / Face-Off / Beddy Bye (4:00)

I've love to hear Board Room, Vicki Hides the Film, and the separated Batwing cues without vinyl clicks and pops!

I'm an easy mark so I'd also buy it. I'm not sure any 55 seconds of unreleased music will change my affection for the score, but I'm interested in hearing it. Would I prefer that to some of the other Elfman/Burton scores that were only partially expanded? Probably not - give me Pee Wee, Beetlejuice, Sleepy Hollow, Big Fish, Charlie, etc. before a new Batman - but I'll take em all.

I'm also not sure it would be something they'd take on while their Danny Elfman Batman set is still in print (I'm assuming it is in print - it's only listed as temporarily out of stock).

There's plenty of other potential Batman releases though! Not just the already-planned volume to wrap up Batman the Animated Series, but certainly that would be foremost in my mind since it's already presumably ready to go or close to it (at least from a program and artwork standpoint...). Batman Begins would have made the union fees cut-off since it came out the week before War of the Worlds, Batman and Robin is a pipe-dream but it exists, the 1960s Batman TV series would be good it they can work it out, Batman Beyond, and I know there's tons of more "minor" animated Batman content from the 2000s+ (DTV movies, TV series) that is unreleased. I know MV has indicated that returns are diminishing for a lot of this stuff, but they'd sell at least one wink

Just replicating an information from JWFan that MV informed at a Bond forum that LLL planed to release Moonraker (40th An.), Licence To Kill (30th An.) and Tomorrow Never Dies but it is on hold due to the delays of No Time To Die and the coronavirus.

Even being current on hold that's great news as Moonraker and LTK are among my most wanted pending 007 expansions, TND is also great, my favorite Bond from David Arnold. It is also a sign that masters do indeed exist for Moonraker.

I hope that after NTTD opens the plans for these releases can be put back on track.

I have the link to the jwfan thread on which the original poster quotes MV, but not the link to the Bond forum he's refering to:

That's a very uncharacteristic thing for LLL to do.... I have seen the JWFan post but I'm not convinced the original message (wherever it was posted) is genuine. They've previously shied away from announcing major projects in advance. Now their inbox is going to get bombarded by emails asking when the Bond soundtracks are out.

Only MV can confirm if it really is true. Hopefully he'll speak on it sooner or later, now his (apparent) quote has been brought to light.
