Same here. I still remember lying on the floor of our tv room in the early 90s and listening to the end credits suite (either on VHS or on TV) and thinking to myself "wow, this is some great music. I wonder if the CD -- and soundtracks in general -- can provide me with some of the same appeal that my other instrumental and prog rock music did?". Which is a bit weird, since I must have owned a couple of soundtracks already. I know that I got TWIN PEAKS on a copied cassette in 1990 or thereabouts.

I bought this right away! Does Varese do any bonuses for people who order early? Like, will I get an official certificate saying that I'm now honorarily divorced from James Cameron or something?

Actually, there is a bar at the bottom of the page to play samples of some tracks.

Perhaps for you. I get a Cincopa user traffic warning.

Same here. Maybe they haven't put the samples up yet.

They did as I listened to them earlier, but I suspect the traffic was so immense their account with Cincopa reached its limit.

Now I know why people stay up till midnight. They want to listen to samples before Varese runs out of bandwith.

Insta-buy.

I made the effort (successfully) to scale back my Xmas gifting this year, but between the music and a few pieces for the Collection®... $ouch$... .

But yes. A suspenseful, eerie, and beautiful work.

Thank you Varese.

1989 was MY YEAR! That's why we try to do as many scores from that era

Batman
Lethal Weapon 2
Star Trek V
Black Rain
Pet Semetary
Fat Man and Little Boy
Tango and Cash

We even have few more planned in 2014!

Can't wait to get THE ABYSS!

1989, I was starting junior high. It was a great year for film music, I remember it well. MV, I just have a quick yes or no question for you. Do you guys have any unreleased Conti for 2014? I'm sorry, but I had to ask.

Does anybody know why "Finale" on The Deluxe Edition is 2 minutes shorter than "Finale" on the original edition?

How does this movie even have this much music?

Still, pleasently surprised and of course I have to buy this one. Happy it'll be around for a while to...

So, it takes nearly a quarter-century to get this music released right, right? Better late than never.

may i ask:
the music for the extended version of the film is in the bonus tracks, or it's included in the main bulk of the score?
i mean, the 2 cds (except for the bonus tracks) are the complete theatrical version score, or the complete special edition score?

(the special edition of the film is 30 minutes more than the theatrical)

Alan Silvestri wasn't available to score the extended version. Additional music for the extended cut was composed by Robert Garrett, but it doesn't seem to be included on the new CD.

As usual Thor is wrong.

This pleases me greatly smile
Meaning, we're in store for some bad-ass new Silvestri vintage action.

While I haven't seen the film in a while, I'm glad the Garrett material isn't
included, since I recall it stunk - banging amateur synth chords, all electronic.

I'm probably remembering wrong, maybe someone will chime in....

wink

The most important thing you must remember, Jeff, is that I am always right and you are always wrong.

Must say, this is a great release and obviously ordered. Not released until January though, what's with that? Announce it and release it, like everyone else does. The enforced wait/delay is just so much torture. Hardly Christmassy Varese. Get the boxes out, get 'em in the mail!
