Beyond belief!!

I've always hoped for an expanded and remastered edition of this gorgeous score but had more or less given up hope.

What an end of year for Barry fans. Mister Moses, The Betsy and now, Peggy Sue Got Married

Many thanks to Varese

Where's the easiest place to order from?

Well, the CHEAPEST place is probably Varese themselves, although in Europe I believe you can also use Collosseum's website.

They're all easy. It's just a matter of finding the cheapest place to suit you according to which CDs you're getting.

I'm waiting for the LLL batch to become available for order so that I can work out who offers the best deal.

Good for speed not price - Peggy Sue a tad expensive at 24.95 euros

A great shame that Screen Archives is charging $5 extra for Peggy Sue/Predator and $4 extra for the other two. At a time when purse strings are tight with so many titles coming out, it's disappointing. European customers like myself may have to look elsewhere, i.e. Moviemusic smile

How about ordering it from Varese`s european distributor Colosseum?

Most labels seem to have an arrangement that they all sell their stuff for the same price.

Varese Sarabande has always seemed to be outside that agreement, which causes sites like SAE to have to mark the price up.

I think the cheapest and fastest way you'll get it is from Varese themselves, although for an edition this limited I always get two and get them from different shops, just in case the post man slips.

Varese says the CDs are in stock now. Colloseum is saying the CDs won't ship out before 9th December.

Cheers

I just ordered it from SAE, a few quid more but I have an account with them anyway. Been a while since I ordered anything using it.

As my previous post says - too pricey. It's 24.95 euros plus shipping. I'm in the UK, and I've found in general that any US-produced release is cheaper to order from the US than ordering it from a European seller.

If it's a European release - such as Tadlow or Quartet - I can order direct. Mister Moses was only £14.95 inc. shipping - what a bargain! smile

WOW ! Needless to say when I saw the Varese Club titles I was surprised to see Peggy Sue Got Married by John Barry. Outstanding Varese ! MISTER MOSES, THE BETSY, AND PEGGY SUE GOT MARRIED in 2014. What a great year for Barry releases !

It's worth noting that Varese has discounted some of their other Club releases, so it might be worth ordering a batch from them if you have any gaps - you'll save a lot of money. All the titles below are about $15 or less - at Screen Archives, they're all $25!

Red Pony
Chinatown
Midway
Family Plot
A Gathering of Eagles
Freud
Pony Soldier
Viva Zapata! / The 13th Letter
The War of the Roses
Broadcast News
The Racers / Daddy Long Legs

For example if I ordered Peggy Sue and Chinatown from Varese, I'd save $14. Just a shame I'm after Falling In Love and Shaft as well!

I'll wait to see what prices Moviemusic and Intrada offer before I decide.

I'm glad that they mention a new sound mix! The sonics of the score on old CD weren't all that great.

Just ordered direct from Varese together with Fedora (Rosza)

Colosseum seems hopelessly expensive.

Ordered direct from Varese - can't wait to get it!

At this price we run the risk of the hated import charge ... VAT and the Royal Mail's handling charge. I'm very reluctant to buy anything from outside the EU which costs more than GBP15.00 and whilst this release - USD20.00 - should scrape under the GBP15.00 limit it may depend upon what the retailer writes on the customs' declaration. SAE usually set USD5.00 per CD ... I don't know what VS's policy is.

see: http://customs.hmrc.gov.uk/channelsPortalWebApp/channelsPortalWebApp.portal?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=pageOnlineServices_ShowContent&id=HMCE_CL_000014&propertyType=document#P20_1804 para 2.3

So it's not surprising our EU retailers do charge more than the US advertised prices.

I'll only order 2 CDs at a time from varese, otherwise customs get a little Xmas bonus from me.

The Good:

OMG! Peggy Sue, complete! From a career full of wonderful music, this is, arguably, one of Barry's most gentle and beautiful scores.

The Bad and the Ugly:

Gods-dammit, SAE have just shipped my order for The Betsy and Mr Moses!
