How amazing is it that we now have all four wonderful Jaws scores in great-sounding definitive versions? Thanks Intrada!

Am I the only one who doesn't think this release sounds "great"? Now don't get me wrong -- it's clearly better than the 2000 release, though the difference is mostly in volume and being a bit 'forward' in sound comparatively but I would in no way call it 'great-sounding'.

(Note to those who can't comprehend things, this is NOT a complaint, just a statement -- I am very happy this got the remastering as it is much more enjoyable and I know Intrada did the best they could with what they had, and it's certainly going to be in my possession soon enough).

I can hear lots of extra detail with these samples even through my IPad. Lots of instruments appearing for the first time. Even stereo image is noticeable on my IPad so it must sound pretty good through a proper stereo setup. I would wait to you get it for final evaluation.

Now time to analyse the other goodies besides the main programs: the Alternates. WOW!

Im curious about 'Man Against Beast' I wonder if this version will closely resemble the version which Joel McNeely recorded with RSNO on the Varese re-recording. There was a percussive ostinato at 2:33 which i really enjoyed on that recording.

The unused 'Quint Meets his End' also get correct listing in the program (as does some of the other tracks- but I suspect Williams may himself have requested the order from his POV) The Decca release had programmed the track up in the beginning cues of the cd confusing many fans of its real intended use. Also the 'Alternate version' could be the one conforming to the RSNO Varese re-recording.

I guess more details will emerge either from JWFAN.net and the liner notes.

Look forward to discover this once again.

JAWS & JAWS 2 I'll gladly add to my collection. I know it's not intrada's working method to put out a boxset, but given the entire franchise was expanded by them, it would have been cool. Either way, these are stellar releases and this has been another year of wish lists demolished. Great stuff.

Couldn´t you have at least waited until you actually listened to the CD?

This is not a complaint, just a statement, of course.

Absolutely beside myself (does this mean I should buy two copies?!) about this release, and Jaws 2 of course. A huge 'you're going to need a bigger hug' thank you to everyone involved smile
Now I just hope both are still available to order at the beginning of January as I'm going to have to wait until then - eeeek!

My thoughts too. I often wonder what people are listening on when they make statements like this, prior to having heard the actual release *shrug*.

Often thought it'd be cool here to have a section in the profile area that lists the audio equipment one is listening to one's soundtracks on, like the Steve Hoffman forums. Then one can get a better idea/context for praise or complaints about the sound of a release.

I'll certainly be ordering JAWS 2, never had that one before, but I think I may be able to resist this one. 3 times I've already bought this on CDwink

When is Intrada's "Black Friday"?

I'm going to have to wait and see what's in that batch, rather than ordering Jaws now all on its little lonesome.

Why does it matter? The Mp3 samples are hardly low quality, it's not like Intrada churns out 15 second samples, they have a good 20 minutes of music here, and it's easy enough to switch back and forth to compare them and the rips I have of the previous discs.
I know maybe some of you listen elsewhere and might not have the best way of comparing, but I listen to all my music on my computer with a high quality sound card using high-ish quality headphones.

What's the point of samples if not to demonstrate how it sounds?

I'll also admit that most people here have probably listened to this music 20 times more than me (as a lowball estimate)...

Yeah, it definitely sounds a little tinny and harsh, but screw it, it's Jaws. Ordered.

Even the samples as compressed files are so much better than the Decca it's scary. Yes, they're not perfect, but this is a forty-year old mono recording.

No, it's a stereo recording. (But it is forty years old.)

Otherwise, I agree. Do they sound "great"? I don't know. Do they sound fifteen gazillion times better than that Decca CD? At least!

Ordered both Jaws and Jaws 2 together (might mean I wait longer but I need to save on the cost of a separate order shipping) and will look forward to both.

Are you fellas sending free copies of all these great releases to the folks at Lucasfilm . . .

. . . with a card reading something like "Nudge nudge. Wink, wink"?
