It's definitely stock music, he wrote music for 4 Corman films early in his career...but by 2001 there was no way he was scoring a Corman direct to video epic. wink

This mentions the BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS music was used in RAPTOR:

"The score’s main theme was used in several trailers later on and Roger Corman tracked the music into such subsequent productions as Sorceress (1983), Space Raiders (1983) and even Raptor (2001). However, it is unlikely that Horner ever saw any footage of these movies at all."

At 76th minute it is from BBTS... anyone seriously thinks that at that point of his carreer Horner would waste his time with such horrendous piece of shit?
84th minute is again from Humanoids...

Fantastic, thanks! RAPTOR removed.

Those first six you mentioned - THE WATCHER (1978), THE DROUGHT (1978), FANTASY (1978), GIST AND EVANS (1978), JUST FOR LAUGH (1978) and LANDSCAPE (1978) - were all student films made by student-directors at the American Film Institute, and which Horner wrote while teaching at the University of Southern California.

That title A GIFT OF A THISTLE was, I believe, the subtitle of the original "Making of" documentary about the making of Braveheart, and just recycles music from that score.

Also, I've seen THE STONE BOY, and the only music in the film are the opening and closing credits. The rest of the movie has no score. It's very sparse, just solo violin and solo guitar, if memory serves.

Great! I suspected as much. I'll remove it.

But it still has a score, and it's unreleased, so I'll keep it in. Thanks for the info!

By the way, can anyone tell me about this (which is currently on the list):

ANDY COLBY'S INCREDIBLE ADVENTURE (1988, w/Ernest Troost)

It also sounds like something with tracked music.

Great score, albeit clearly OMEN-inspired. I love the big soaring Americana bits - Just gorgeous, especially the sweeping string interlude in the main title. I wish horror film scores were still allowed room to embolden their subjects matters with music like this. The finale and end title is positively chilling...

Is "Deadly Blessing" one of the scores Horner himself didn't want released? The "Omen"-inspired passages are blatant, but the Romantic music is beautiful and uniquely Horner's own. The same can be said about "The Hand," which has passages blatantly inspired by "Alien" but the Romantic material there is also beautiful and unique. These two would make a great pairing.

I saw "Deadly Blessing" and found it noteworthy for its early use of the lovely pastoral melody he later reused in "Something Wicked This Way Comes."

Great to know! We'll keep it on the list untill then. I must admit I'm a bit confused about all these flight and airplane things that Horner did in recent years. But that's the film that features the "Four Horseman" thing, right?

In response to the questions on Andy Colby's Incredibly Awesome Adventure, it is from Battle Beyond the Stars. I, unfortunately, have that film on DVD, and it's a mixture of a bad synth Pee-Wee's Big Adventure knock off score, and stock Horner music. Naturally, it's a Roger Corman production.

Was there ever any music recorded for Young Guns? If so, is the track on the Incantation-album original or a re-recording?

If memory serves, he completed the whole score, mainly for synth and small ensemble, but the director (or producers) tossed it and went for Banks and Marinelli.
I would guess the Incantation version is a re-recording like the rest of the CD.

One Day in Auschwitz has a sparse score. Here it is, and it's just something everyone should watch

No, LIVING IN THE AGE OF AIRPLANES is a documentary (or hagiography might be a more accurate description) about "how the airplane has changed the world." It is narrated by Harrison Ford.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3915966/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

As far as the Horsemen go, and as far as I understand it, Horner wrote music to be used at the aeronautic displays of the stunt flight team The Horseman, and this music was released in a package with two music videos (for two pieces he wrote, one 12 mins and one 4 mins) anda short featurette about Horner's relationship with the team called "Write Your Soul". But the music wasn't written for the featurette, rather the featurette is about the music he wrote for the team.

The opening/end title is also from HUMANOIDS - I believe the cue called "Down River" or something?
